I eventually swapped the Echo Show 8 for a new Echo Show 5 (3rd gen 2023 release) because the 8's display was too bright in my bedroom and I have never been able to get the skill working.
I also set the camera in the Amcrest Smart Home app to FHD rather than 2K according to this official guide https://support.amcrest.com/hc/en-us/ar ... Smart-Home
What am I doing wrong? I only invested in Echo Show for upstairs bedroom so I could link the doorbell to it, so it makes these devices otherwise a bit of a paperweight. If I can't get support for this I will need to consider a different brand to get what I want working.
After it is setup in Alexa and I say "Alexa, show me the Front Door" Alexa says "I'm not quite sure what went wrong"
Edit: I forgot to mention that I also could not get it working in Home assistant with the following parameters:
Code: Select all
# devices
amcrest:
- host: 192.168.178.159
username: admin
password: redacted
name: Front Door
resolution: low
stream_source: rtsp
The camera worked and streamed inside of Home Assistant:
