DaveK: so you had to dismantle the AD410 and replace parts?

Yes. It was fairly easy to disable, but care has to be taken to remove the battery from the circuit board and you need to know how to solder to move the circuit board.

I was beyond the warranty period, so I didn't have anything to lose in attempting to repair it myself. :-)
