AD140 buzzing with Mechanical chime and chime kit

Post by conrad141 »

I’ve been trying to wire up the doorbell with my chime for ages now and just can’t get it right.

The chime is PANAMAX CH500WW

I have tried it with the following transformers:

24VAC 40VA
16.5VAC 40VA
16.5VAC 20VA

In all cases, with or without the chime kit installed, the camera boots up, but the chime constantly buzzes or vibrates. And with some it heats up quite a bit.

I thought the entire purpose of the chime kit was to take care of this, but I’m not able to discern and difference in the behavior depending on whether it’s connected or not.

Is my chime kit just broken? Or am I using the wrong transformer?

The chime is rated for 16VAC. Is 16.5 too much or something?

I would really like to be able to use this chime if possible. Otherwise I will have to start from scratch again in terms of how I need to wire it up.

Any advice?

How are you wiring the chime kit?

Should be 1 wire on transformer and 1 wire on doorbell wire side of the doorbell. I can't find your doorbell on its website. Can find many others.

You sure doorbell uses 16v and not 8,9 or 10vac?
Be Safe.
