hi @squawk1200 and welcome to the forum. it would appear amcrest has rescinded 200828 if 200702 is now showing the latest version. for folks who have updated, to 200828, they will have to wait for another firmware update.

I also want to point out that the motion block grids/video analysis and PIR motion detection are not mutually exclusive. Other camera and smart doorbell manufacturers combine the capabilities of the two.

Take Ring for example. Their battery powered doorbell has PIR with the same 3 zone layout + range. Their wire-powered doorbell has an advanced MD that incorporates PIR + up to 3 user selectable polygonal regions for filtering motion, not a basic 3 zone.

We know that the AD110 incorporates a PIR and the firmware shows it is enabled and that the range selected in the UI changes the PIR Duty cycle which affects its sensitivity. What we don't know is how they merge the PIR detection with video analysis detection. I kinda think Amcrest devs don't know either.

I wholeheartedly agree with this!

I have had one Amcrest tech support agent say that the AD110 does not have a PIR sensor only to be told by another that it does. I have also been told that the 702 firmware basically disabled the PIR and used video based MD and that is why I was having cars that are over 100' away and shadows on the porch columns from birds flying by set off the MD to the point where I had to disable MD in order to sleep (I work nights and sleep in the mornings).

I'm not sure if anyone knows what is going on from one day to the next.

just now got a reply from Amcrest support to my question about why the Motion Detect UI has changed.

She avoided answering it and instead asked "Did you reset the device after the update?" :(

That's it. No mention of the 828 firmware being retracted. But I wonder... if the SH app contains the code for BOTH the block grids and the 3 Zone UI (which I think it must), then there is likely a switch in either the firmware or the back-end server that tells the app which to use. We know that a reset can change the IP, so maybe it can change the switch to select the original UI method as well.

I've not updated my firmware, so I can't test this theory.

What do you need or want to do to test the Theory? I have one that is updated and one that isn't here at the house.

I just replied and it vanished. So again...

Factory Reset the doorbell that has the 200828 update.

Most likely her response was a deflection/cookie cutter response to whatever ails. But there is a chance that a reset may trigger the SH app to revert to the block grid UI.

WOW crazy... So before when I posted if I remember right and I didn't go look because I don't remember where I posted it but my Doorbell was 7575 after FW update.. Oddly I had also done 2 Reboots and a Reset and that was config count.. Well After Gary mentioned about doing another Reset I just did one again and this time the Config comes back with only 5362 Lines.. Also another thing this time I had to Remove the Camera from the app where the last time I didn't have to... Then another strange issue was after I removed it and Pressed the + to add it back it told me to enter a Password that was already SET WTH... Anyway I closed out the app and brought it back up pressed the + again and this time said we needed to turn on the Hot Spot and added as normal..

However sadly no the Grid is not there it is still the Half Moon 3 area setup Also it acts like it did before and I don't dare press save with all 3 turned off as I will have to go reset again lol With all 3 turned off while your in that you can't turn them back on however if I back out and don't save it will be ok.. As I said before if you need all 3 off just turn off motion on the past page...

HOWEVER in the Config yes it does have them all enabled again and Now rather then the little area I had once before that it didn't take out this time it did and all is listed.. However I can't see this only the Half Moon or half Pie or what ever it is called lol

djsteve wrote: Sat Sep 19, 2020 7:44 pm If indeed the “fix” for excessive motion triggers was to remove video-based motion detection in favor of only passive infra-red detection, then the return to a more coarse three zone configuration would be correct. PIR cannot precisely “see” areas defined in the small grid-based zones. The grid is for video-based motion detection.

Interestingly, I found that the firmware just previous to this latest release has been very reliable for motion detection - few if any false triggers and a grid-based configuration. I plan to ignore the new update until more info is available.
Exactly what I am doing.
