AD110 firmware v1.000.00AC006.0.R.200828
Re: AD110 firmware v1.000.00AC006.0.R.200828
I'm definitely not installing it either. It is incomprehensible that the team doing the QA never noticed the UI had reverted. I would not completely dismiss the possibility that this was an intentional change to revert to a UI that had less control to "fix" PIR range issues. But yeah, I think it is more likely this was a bad build and an even worse QA effort.

Probably a smart move for everyone to hold off on updating the firmware. While my reboots at night seem to be resolved, now I am not getting any motion detection. I have rebooted twice through the app and made sure that motion detection is enabled and the new/old zones are on and the sensitivity is all the way up. I will try a reset at the camera when I return home. If that doesn't resolve the motion issue then I hope the programmers push out a fix quicker than they did this last one.
Re: AD110 firmware v1.000.00AC006.0.R.200828
Sadly, I've discovered the same (reverted to the old zones). I'd purchased an AD110 back in May but had to return it due to constant disconnects. I discovered recently from a forum post my problem was likely caused by having a "!" in my password, which was strange. Anyway, I ordered and installed a new AD110, everything worked without a hitch (with "!" removed from password). During setup, I was prompted to update the firmware, did so and all went well. I set up motion detection with the grid view and all was good. Yesterday evening, I opened the app to verify motion detection only to find the zone view displayed which confused the heck out of me. Unfortunately, I saved the settings and lost previous motion detection settings. Hopefully, they'll resolve this soon.

hi @standiego and welcome to the forum. hang in there. i often wonder who in amcrest has signed off on the new firmware before releasing it. rubber stamped approval without any testing?

Submitted a support ticket this morning. I'll post the reply when/if I get it...
Subject: SmartHome app Motion Detection Window UI change
For what reason did the SmartHome Motion Detection Window grid layout change in the latest firmware update? It was replaced by a simplistic 3 zone semi-circle which was in the app initially. The release notes make no mention of this significant change to functionality so I have to wonder if it was an unintentional change that will be corrected soon.
Please confirm if this change was intentional and what benefit it provides over the previous grid layout, which clearly was much more flexible and specific in selecting motion areas.
Re: AD110 firmware v1.000.00AC006.0.R.200828
Here is a thought..... just thinking out loud here..... what if processing via grid was too power consuming and they reverted back to just PIR since that device is always on and that's how they fixed the nightly power reboot issue?!?!?
Re: AD110 firmware v1.000.00AC006.0.R.200828
If they do come back and confirm this was intentional, I think the reason will be related to fixing the MD/PIR issues with the grid blocks. I really hope they will provide an explanation. I doubt it has to do with any extra power/processing demands of the chip itself, so I went exploring to see what it has inside...
The getSystemInfo CGI command returns "processor=Hi3516C V200". This is a Huawei SoC integrated processor which is quite powerful and used in countless security cameras. IPVM has an interesting report on just how prevalent chips from Huawei are in products sold in the US (and the security concerns in using them)... https://ipvm.com/reports/huawei-hisilicon
I also found a detailed technical description of this Hi3516 SoC which is another interesting read if you're into that sort of thing. Just check out all that this chip is capable of.
EDIT: just now got 2 replies back from Amcrest Support. First one said I had to fill out an online form to submit a ticket. My email wasn't accepted. Second one asked me to rate the support I just received. Good grief.

Looking at the typical power usage.... it's less than a watt. So we can rule out my theory which is a good sign.

Update-
After deleting the AD110 from the Smart Home app, another hard reset and adding the AD110 back to the app, motion detection is again working. It appears to be only PIR detection and not video detection which "should" reduce false and nuisance alerts.
Maybe this update will solve most issues for most people. I will do a little more testing tonight after dark.

I am not sure but I think another FW update is going to come out again real soon that will put the camera back on Grid mode. THis is just a guess not looking like it will happen before the weekend starts seeing it has passed the days Tech time...
Be Safe.
