if x702 were non-critical, don't you think Amcrest would have just deferred whatever the change was to the next release? Most likely this was an urgent security update given it was released 1 day after x701.

It's a damn shame Amcrest doesn't provide any detailed release notes. I've asked support to provide this detail about what changed, and all they would say was, and I quote

Recent update resolves server issue, and motion detection issue.
Thank you & Have a great day"

We knew about the server (offline) issue being fixed in x701, but fixing something with motion detection was news to me.

hi @hawkeye62 2019113 is an older firmware. what version is your smart home app? i'm wondering if you have new features like wide dynamic range, ability to turn off night vision, ability to set number of seconds to your chime, and ability to download recorded videos right from the sd card using the app?

my personal thoughts are if you are satisfied with what you have right now, then perhaps there is really no need to update. however since amcrest hasn't provided any release note with any firmware release, there is really no way to tell whenever a particular firmware update was security related. i'm sure you can agree with me security updates would be important to have.

@hawkeye62 - I understood that you were anxious to start using new features the latest firmware (and SmarthHome app) provides but didn't want to deal with upgrading hassles. No one can guarantee you a hassle-free experience, but that is exactly what I had when I installed the last 3 firmware updates. I never had to do the factory reset BS.

I would expect that would be the case for the majority of AD110 users who have updated, but there's really no way to tell. I am surprised you aren't having app/server offline issues with that old firmware. My advice is the benefit outweighs the small risk of maybe having to do a reset.

Got my replacement today and just as an FYI do not use exclamation mark "!" In your password as it causes instability with streaming of video through there app and fails to start the rtsp stream.

Humm maybe that is why I have a better connection now with a different password that no longer has a !.. I changed all my Passwords away from having one. That is odd because I never thought anything about it other then me doing a Factory Reset used different password the second time never thought it was Password Related... Funny thing is I have other cameras that I couldn't even use the ! it would tell me that it was not allowed lol Geez Good to know...

Thanks for the Update

speaking of WiFi passwords... I found that having a long one (> 30 chars) is a show stopper. I had to set up a whole new SSID with a shorter password just for the AD110 so I didn't have to change it for several dozen of other devices that had no problem with it. Just why Amcrest devs?

amcrest168: My Smart Home version is 3.5.0.

GaryOkie: Thanks for the advice. I will give it a try as soon as I get a little spare time.

OK, I updated the firmware to 702. Everything appears to be working perfectly. No hassle. But, I can't find the location where I can set the time for the indoor chime to play.

@hawkeye62 when you go to Amcrest Chimes and check mark the Digital it will offer a Box for how long you want the CHime to get power normal is 3s to as much as 10s however if you set it to Mechanical it is default to 3s
