Re: Public email servers working in 2020?
On the basis of "if they can't get their s**t together maybe we can get it together for them", I had a look at what it'd take to fix the TLS bug. The idea is to patch the binary so the SCSV signalling value gets turned into something else which is ignored by the server. The firmware is a s...

Do the Amcrest 5-series NVRs finally fix the broken email bug?
Just noticed that Amcrest have released the 5208E, the first non-stupidly-expensive replacement for the buggy 4xxxE series, and was wondering if anyone has got one and can confirm that they've fixed their broken TLS implementation so it can talk to Gmail and other mail services? Another big feature ...

Re: Public email servers working in 2020?
Microsoft's servers still work since they ignore the invalid TLS handshake that the Amcrest devices are using. Long-term you'll have to either track down more and more obscure mailers that will still accept the invalid TLS handshake or set up your own mail relay that takes incoming messages from Amc...

Re: Emails stopped working...
You need to find one that ignores Amcrest's broken TLS implementation. outlook.com currently still seems to do this. Otherwise you could set up a mail relay on some system you control that ignores the broken TLS handshake for incoming mail and then forwards it to the external system of your choice u...

Re: GMail setup - test email fails
There is NO FIX for the Gmail Server issue. I have spent countless hours researching this. Issue is Amcrest needs to comply with Gmails new standards of Certificates. It has nothing to do with certificates, Amcrest have a buggy TLS implementation, see the countless other threads on this topic, one ...

Re: Emails stopped working...
Although it's nice to blame Google because they're a**holes and deserve it, it's actually Amcrest's fault, they have a buggy TLS implementation. So you need to find a mail server that'll accept a broken TLS handshake, which Microsoft's servers currently still allow.

Re: Cant get emails to work (test failed)
It wasn't the password, the Amcrest cameras/NVRs have a buggy TLS implementation that's accepted by some servers like Microsoft's ones but rejected by many others, including Google/Gmail. See the numerous other threads in these forums for details.

Re: Emails stopped working...
I too have a Lorex system, and my gmail notifications stopped working after 3 years of working fine. Lorex too, claimed it was a gmail issue. And thus I have had no notifications for months. Do not think it is an Amcrest issue. Suggestions? It's definitely an Amcrest issue, see this post for the te...

Re: Get email notifications to work
Maybe the profusion of threads for the same issue would be limited if people read the earlier posts on this topic... the reason is explained here, Amcrest's TLS client is broken. You'll never get it to work with Gmail without a firmware upgrade.

Re: Emails failed -> workaround postfix ?
It's not going to work with Gmail since the problem is Amcrest's TLS implementation, see this post for the technical details. So any server that correctly implements TLS, and specifically SCSV signalling, won't work with an Amcrest client because it sends an correct SCSV value (alongside a Heartblee...
