Hey there - I bought a NV4108E-HS along with some 4k cameras and want to do periodic FTP pushes to an offsite collector, but also like having onsite storage of the NVR.
My questions are:
1. Do cameras record to NVR and onboard SD card simutaneously?
2. Does Amcrest ViewPro playback play off of NVR or SD card?
3. Can NVR write to FTP while still recording locally?
Thanks for the help,
EC
Will Cameras Record to NVR and FTP Simultaneously?

Re: Will Cameras Record to NVR and FTP Simultaneously?
Hello and welcome to the Forum
So while it can be done to an off site FTP site that isn't something that is in the scope of Amcrest and normally onsite FTP is better for best results. These then could be uploaded to an offsite server for backup again that would be something for you or your Network Admin to setup...
However I do have my cameras doing more duty then I thought they could... I have mine writing to a local MSD, Local Recorders, Onsite FTP and because that wasn't enough also going to PC-NVR.. However as things progress it seems that I need more HDD space lol... I seem to fill up everything rather fast now days... So I have moved them all over to mainly doing Motion snap shots to keep track of where I need to look for something on my Recorders that record 24/7...

Re: Will Cameras Record to NVR and FTP Simultaneously?
The answer your exact questions:
1. By default NVR will record video and SD will record video and snapshot. You can disable video-->SD if desired. NVR configuration shows support for snapshot recording, but I've never enabled it. I video-->NVR & snapshot-->SD.
2. If the APP is connected to the NVR (usually the case for multi-cameras installations when an NVR exists) it will playback from the NVR. You can connect to each camera (APP or camera UI) to get files from the SD. Essentially, playback source = the device you are connected to at the time.
3. Yes and as Revo2Maxx says it is typically meant for local FTP since it will be real-time. If you want periodic offsite FTP offload, that would be external to the NVR configuration: NVR-->FTP_1 + separate process for FTP_1-->FTP_2.
If you have a local NAS (like a $200 Synology) you can easily setup NVR-->NAS and leverage numerous NAS-based options (including FTP) for periodic offsite backup. In short, you can record to SD in each camera + have NVR recordings + have NAS/FTP recordings + have offsite backup.

Four NV4108E-HS and a mix of 24 cameras (IP4M-1028, IP4M-1051, and IP3M-HX2)
