RTSP streams from NVR
RTSP streams from NVR
I just bought an Amcrest package of 8 cameras with NVR. I’d like to set it up with a smarthome dashboard to show some of the streams. I’ve read on these forums that you can’t disable DHCP on the NVR and so the cameras won’t be on my LAN. Can the NVR pass along individual RTSP streams for each camera?
Re: RTSP streams from NVR
Well it might depend on what NVR your working with
rtsp://10.0.0.225:80/cam/realmonitor?channel=2&subtype=0&proto=Private1/
With that I can open and view, record and even take snapshots on ch 2 of my 4116E-HS NVR from inside of VLC. However if I try this same command on my 4216E-AI NVR it will open channel and I can view only for a couple of seconds before VLC crashes
So in that line, it is on port 80, ch 2 on my 4116E-HS I tried it on 5 different channels without crashing like my AI NVR does.. Also tried it on my 2108E-HS and it worked as expected as well..
Now to be clear if you need something that has your user and pass already in the command line I have not tested that with any of what I was working with. By entering the line it will prompt me to enter the user and pass everytime.

Here is one for where you can use RSTP port of 554 and again ch 2 and for main. I tested this on my 4116E-HS and was able to work with my user and pass in the line

Re: RTSP streams from NVR
I got the 4116E-HS. I noticed you both mentioned ch=2, so I'm assuming that doesn't refer to the channel of an individual camera? There's another way to isolate the stream of 1 particular camera? Sorry in advance for the noob question
Re: RTSP streams from NVR
Sorry I used Ch2 as my way of saying that it isn't just CH1.. Most times if you try to get a Stream it will be from CH1 yet with the info provided above was started on Ch2.. THen if you look at my first post I also stated on Port 80 with my first way of running the RTSP I did it on 5 different channels without crashing.. Tried it on a few different on my 4216E-AI and all crashed.. So that was why I went from 1 NVR to another.. Then again in my second post with Port 554 I used 2 only to confirm that the user and pass part of the line would work and on something outside of the CH1 and it did..
When you use a NVR that channel is of the NVR so on lets say your 4116E-HS you have camera on ch7 that you want to use then in one of them lines above you would put the 7 in place of the channel=2 would read channel=7.. Subtype is for Stream 0 for main Sub is 1.. Not sure I follow your line of questioning on ("I'm assuming that doesn't refer to the channel of an individual camera?") a camera has 1 channel unless it is a Multi channel camera and I personally don't know of any that are offered by Amcrest and normally they would require a different channel of a NVR anyway (like a 4 camera 180 degree system each of the 4 cameras in that dome would need their own channel) so in something like that it would by on a Amcrest 4116E-HS using channel 9 to 16 seeing the ones I know of won't work with Amcrest POE ports only IP and port 80..
