Reset password won’t work
Reset password won’t work
I’m trying to reset my password so I can do a firmware update. (I can’t remember mine right now). When I submitted my request and got my new one it still won’t work? They recommended unplugging my DVR for over an hour and retrying. Just did that and still no luck. Any suggestions on why this isn’t working?
Re: Reset password won’t work
Need more info on what Model DVR you have?
So there are things out there that might work. I have another Brand of DVR that was acting funny with my Password before I stopped using it.
What I did and I can't say will work for your system. However you might want to try if it don't have a Reset button inside as some now days don't. Unplug everything from the DVR. Take off the TOP, Remove the battery from the MB and let it sit for 24hrs. Also at times depending on the workings of the unit pressing and holding the Power Button with all cables off and battery out could speed up the process to a few minutes.
Please note I don't know what DVR your using, I didn't build it and I am not sure how the ROM is setup

there is no reset button
Re: Reset password won’t work
Well it is an Idea. I would like I said...
Take off cover, Remove the battery unless it is Soldered on board. However if it is button style that can be removed... I would try and remove the battery and leave everything disconnected from it for 24hours.
I am not 100% sure that will work. I know that there are some that can be reset this way. One brand Ihad some years ago I had mine setup was working however installed a new Amcrest unit. Put other on shelf. At time battery was good or I thought. Last year went back to use the DVR and found it had reset. Then I set all back up and removed power to install the HDD in it. After turning back on it reset again.. SO that was when I knew battery was bad. replaced and now retains info like it should.

Re: Reset password won’t work
I didn't even realize there was a battery in there...like for backup?
Re: Reset password won’t work
The Battery is to keep the cameras memory when power is lost. Config and all that was setup when you setup the DVR/NVR that is why most times if that is removed and power is drained from Ram/ROM it will reset unit back to factory. Even the little IP cameras have some type of battery in them as well. the 841s are really small watch battery type...
