The HDD in my NVR died so I simply powered off the device and put in a spare I had sitting around. No big deal.
I power the device back up and there is a red light on what seems to be marked as USB, along with a quiet squealing sound coming from the device board.
Unhooked the HDD, same thing.
Put the old drive back in, same thing.
Did swapping hard drives really fry this board?
The fan attached to the board still works however neither hard drive powers on and spins up.
I'm thinking this might have been a board failure all along and not a hard drive issue.
I've had nothing but bad luck with these NVR's. I believe I'm on my 3rd warranty replacement.
This is the Amcrest HD 720P 4CH Video Security System. Is it possible to get a replacement board?
Similar issue here from another user but no reply with support.

Re: Replaced HDD now red light and squealing
I don't know I am going to say for the price it might be better to just buy a new unit from e bay from Amcrestdirect. You can for 40.00USD free shipping get a NVR from them. I am going to only guess but I think if you were to replace the board it will cost more then what they are selling these 391982801668 for. Take that number and do a search on e bay and will take you there...
