I am probably kicking a dead horse, but it's MY first time that I've stumbled across the critter.
I have five HD cameras which are not POE, running on CAT6 cable going through two switches feeding into my router, and then into my 4108 NVR recorder.
I would like to add one or two POE cameras. Can I do this by replacing my switches with a POE switch? Will my non-POE cameras work with a POE switch?
Thanks in advance, Roger Beno
POE switch?
Re: POE switch?
Most Non POE Cameras can work on a POE switch... The POE Switch will not give power to a NON poe Device... For POE to work it looks for the DeVice to give it info on the pair that the Power is used on.. If it don't get that info then it will just work like a Normal Switch for the device... Then you have to think that not all POE switches are the same. If you are going to buy POE+ Camera in the future then I would look into buying a POE+ Switch and that will ensure that you can power the newer POE+ cameras that you may get in the future.. Or if wouldn't then POE switch would work...
Be Safe.
