Background: My network is in a star configuration, my NVR is plugged into the switch at the center of the star, that switch has 4 IP cameras connected to it directly and aren't showing up.
My NVR only detects the cameras on one of my 3 networks switches and not on any of the other switches or the switch it itself is plugged into.
When I pull up IPConfig all my cameras show up immediately, and i'm able to log in and view them all individually.
When I pull up Amcrest Surveillance Center i'm able to see all the cameras and view them.
Only 3 cameras who are all on the same switch show up when I search on the NVR for devices. If i try and manually add other cameras to my NVR using their IP address with the correct login credentials I just get a red dot.
I've already reset my NVR and updated the firmware. All the products are Amcrest products and the network settings seem correct to me but must not be. I feel like i'm missing something simple but this is extremely frustrating.
NVR only detecting some cameras
Re: NVR only detecting some cameras
Kind of hard to say, with you system setup in a Star here is what I would double check..
1 Make sure there is no IP conflicts. I know you said you can connect but still don't address a conflict.
2, Check Switch Configuration, Don't know what you are using, so If using Managed switches make sure that the relevant ports are configured and not on a different Vlan one that the NVR isn't part of.
3, Make sure all devices are on the same subnet and that the gateway settings are correct. Conflict can make some cameras unreachable.
4, FIrewall and or security software settings on the network might be blocking it.
Outside of this if the problem is still there maybe a deeper network issue.
Sounds like I would move the NVR to where you are making a ASP connection and see if you are able to access all cameras same as you were with ASP

Well lets run the questions associated with cameras on a computer network.amath49 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2024 7:24 pm Background: My network is in a star configuration, my NVR is plugged into the switch at the center of the star, that switch has 4 IP cameras connected to it directly and aren't showing up.

1. Is the cameras plugged into a POE switch?
2. is the NVR connected to the network port instead of one of the camera/POE switch ports on the NVR?
since it looks like you are running the cameras on the computing network, you could set the bridge mode on and use the cam ports on the NVR as another switch.
Also, I want to point out to check the mode switch if the switch has one and be mindful not to use and uplink ports on any switch since the traffic is not coalescing to one device.
