I am looking at installing approximately 30 cameras for a business and was wondering opinions on NVR options. There is a 32 channel and it would meet the needs. But i also hear of people using third party software on a computer as a NVR. Is there an advantage to either. Will i be just fine with a 32 channel NVR supporting about 30 8MP cameras? Just wondering the pros and cons either way.
Thanks
NVR choice
Re: NVR choice
If you're okay not using AI, the Amcrest NVR is fully capable of running all 30x 8MP cams at solid bitrates (8–10 Mbps each). For a hands-off appliance style setup, it makes a lot of sense.
But if:
Have or buy a beefy i7 with 32GB ram and good GPU
You want person/vehicle detection without relying on smart cameras
Need better remote access, smarter alerts, or camera mixing
Want to integrate into home automation or more advanced systems
Then Blue Iris still wins, assuming you're cool with running a 24/7 PC.
