Just got my replacement NVR 5216, for my older 4108.
After a firmware update...
1. You can only view 4 cameras at one time. The old firmware was 16 at one time.
2. The nvr records everything. my NVR 5216 is recording all the time. Not sure how to change this with the new firm ware.
3. The new style the menu system sucks with the firmware. I prefer the older way. Simple it was. I don’t like the tabs across the top.
4. No plugin required now. Hurray, one positive note, I don’t need the older internet explorer with a plugin to view the camera’s video.
Waiting for Amcrest to get back to me.
NVR 5216 Records everything
Re: NVR 5216 Records everything
Maybe I’m not understanding what the NVR’s job is.
Is it suppose to record everything?
And them at playback, I filter and show me only the motion detection?
In my old NVR, it only recorded the motions, thus saving a lot of space on the hard drive.

Re: NVR 5216 Records everything
Sorry to hear about the issues. Sadly i think it iwas one of the things that happen with the Update if it was able to have all 16 going... JS lacks the ability to have all 16 so limited to 4...
About your Recording there are some things you need to look over.. In Settings, then in the HDD area sorry don't know the new Menu so I can't tell you for sure where or what to click on but you will want to find HDD area and then Schedule, Then you will if it is Recording full time now but don't want it too, You will need to Remove the Regular from the Schedule and keep Motion. Then you will want to do the Same for Snap Shots also.. One downfall I find is at times people don't understand that Full time Snap Shot and then they run out of Space because without them even knowing it was turned on for Snap Shots and they think setup for Motion but because Schedule it is full time.. If you want JPG saved on motion you will want to change that from full time to Motion as well. Or just Turn off the Tab for Snapshot in the HDD area where you setup for Recording Main, Sub and Snapshot just turn all off if you don't want snapshot from that area.. OR maybe you only want 1 camera then I always click on All to turn off and then turn back on the one I want is easier then having to click them one at a time..
Another thing to note.. If you have not Reset your NVR after your Update you might want to do this before all the above...
One of the things I notice is that at times people don't do the Reset after FW update and because of that the Device can act strange because it isn't loaded right.. THere are things in Conflict with old setup and trying to over run the new by doing a Factory Reset the system will keep your FW in tack but will remove all OLD setup info and when system Starts it will load the Real System hardware info...
Normally this would be under Main Menu, System and Default then there is defaulting things but you want to click the Factory Reset Button on mine it is bottom Left next to Amcrest Logo.. I would do that before setting up anything that I mention above that is because after every FW update the System should be Factory Reset iF you did that already then try changing the Schedules to meet your needs...

Re: NVR 5216 Records everything
Ok So looking over things there are some things that needs to be fixed..
First in your Schedule you have both Full record and Motion active this is also going on in your Snapshots and because you have them active they are being saved that way as well full time so you have your 9+ TB hdd but depending on what you have your encoding at and the size of your Snap shots that is going to go fast with being on full time and Motion
Here is a Picture of what I am talking about from your setup in the one that shows the 2 lines that is saying you want full time recording and motion full time... This is how you have your Snapshots setup as well
then second picture is of your setup you will want to change your setup for snapshots on motion if you want in Schedule, and then change the cameras you want to record snapshots if not all of them...
Also it looks like you have Extra Stream off that might be bad if there is need for your extra Stream/ aka Sub Stream you might want to turn on at least sub 1
James..

Re: NVR 5216 Records everything
Also to be Honest, I would turn your VBR back to CBR and personally I have mine set to 22fps for main on my 841's, and to be honest there is no difference we can see set to 22fps over 30.. Also Unless your trying to save Movie Quality for Streaming I wouldn't set up to Best as well.. This can help lag your Network..
Also not sure why you need over 4096 for bit rate but the 8k you have yours setup for is little over kill as well.. This is just my thoughts there is no one Right way for someone to setup their cameras.. I am only offering what I see and what I would change.. I have my Sub setup for 1024 in the Bit and 20fps also VBR is not much help for space savings I have found on my IP cameras on my Normal BNC cameras I have VBR setup and does help but some reason I don't see the change help infact having it to VBR I found it hurt my data some!?

Re: NVR 5216 Records everything
While I have to admit your WebUI is loads different it is all there though..
Looking at your Load in Screen you would want to click on the top Management for most part... IF you wanted to go to LOgs or your system info then you would use the Operation button or tab what ever it would be called on the screen...
The little Door Icon on the top right not sure I like that they have the Shutdown command on the WebUI.. I like the idea of having a Logout and Reboot but Shutdown not such a good idea in my mind....

Re: NVR 5216 Records everything
VBR, is just that, variable, if it does not need it, it should not use it. I have some VBR that only use 56Kbps because if the night vision and black and white looking. Either way, I have plenty of band with here is the house. The 2.5 gigabit back bone has lots of room. Currently I'm using 100 mbps on average on the backbone. That's really good for 150 devices online. PS, one gateway, five access points, one bridge, another access point...Revo2Maxx wrote: ↑Sun Oct 25, 2020 5:32 pm Also to be Honest, I would turn your VBR back to CBR and personally I have mine set to 22fps for main on my 841's, and to be honest there is no difference we can see set to 22fps over 30..
