NV4108E-HS Playback Issues

Post by AngieTexas »

I have a two day old NV4108E-HS and I am having a bad experience with it.
The cameras, 4x IP8M-2597EW-4MM, are hooked up POE, three on Amcrest 60' Ethernet cables (CAT5ECABLE60), 1 on a new 25' Cat5 Ethernet cable. All outdoor, none restricted, all open home-runs to NVR.

The cameras themselves, while only 4, seem to work well and stay constant. Nice cameras, but in reading some comments, this may not hold true if I add more cameras, which will greatly disappoint me. Why would you sell something, 8 Channel NVR, that by design, doesn't do what you use a selling point to promote?

Anyhow, my issues for now, are focused on playback. In playback, I get errors, such as "Over Decode Ability", this can be on all four channels and sometimes, one channel will play and three will have the error.

Hello and Welcome to the Forum...

Sadly I don't have your NVR... I do have a NV-4108 but isn't the HS and I do have a NV-2116-HS however I don't have any 4K cameras connected to it..

However I wonder if the issues is that your Trying to over Play back... In the Data talk for your System the Info States
"Records 8-Channels @ 1080p/3MP/4MP/5MP/6MP/8MP & Playback 8-Channel @ 1080p/4-Channel 3MP/4MP/3-Channel 5MP/2-Channel 6MP/2-Channel 8MP."

It looks like if your trying to play back in 4k 8mp you will need to on the right hand side select 2 of the 4 cameras for playback...

Also if I read all your Post right. I think you said somewhere that your use a Cat5 for a connection to your camera... I want to caution you on your Camera connections seeing your running on POE.. I do have some POE+ Cameras while yours may be only POE it is still voltage going over some very small wires
Be Safe.

Hello Revo2Maxx,

The side of the box reads as attached...

Nowhere does it mention not being able to playback what you record in 8MP on 8 channels, it simple boasts about 8MP 4K Ultra HD POE Network and Video Recorder, I assumed, if it could record it, it could play it back on 1, 4 or 8 channels.

So are you saying, in order to use the Amcrest NV4108E-HS with four or even eight IP8M-2597EW-4MM cameras, you can record in 8MP but if you want to play it back on four or even eight channels, it's not going to happen and if you want to use four or even eight channels you have to lower the recording resolution to 3MP/4MP which is FAR LESS Expensive than the Amcrest NV4108E-HS NVR and IP8M-2597EW-4MM cameras?

I am feeling like I made a bad choice, when I thought I made the best choice. I am thinking, I need to box it all back up and send it back. Ugggg....

This has not been a good experience at all.

Thanks for your input.

I noticed on the NVR, there is a toggle (no tool tips) that toggles M/S. I assume M= Main and S= Secondary. But when I change from M to S, nothing happens, no video.

As with the Web Browser interface, can a secondary version of the 8MP Main be made in 4MP for viewing purposes only and still have access to the 8MP main version, should it be needed?

Thanks,

Yes sorry to hear your not happy with things.. Sadly it is hard to understand things at times with the box not really showing any data of the Playback... It is on the Website and also on Amazon site as well.. I know that don't really help...

My 2116 only has the ability to play back 1 at 4k or 16ch at 1080P .. Most times I don't even watch many CH in play back... I will admit my 16ch DVR I do use a Feature that lets me look at 16 areas of View of the same camera in a day but even then I don't use it that often and playback of 4 cameras any of my Machine I most times end up on 1 anyway... But I understand it can be had to try and track something from ch1, 2 3 and so on when you can only watch 1 or 2 ch's at a time... Out of all my Recorders I do have 4 Amcrest units 2dvrs and 2 nvrs and another Branded 8ch DVR.. Also 2 more 16ch DVR from another company... Sadly most of my Camera gear came years before I knew Amcrest... Besides my Samsung cameras there isn't any others that I own I like more then my Amcrest Cameras.. Even if they are mostly 2mp... I do have some older 720p and 960h Amcrest cameras as well even they have better features then my other branded cameras..

Sorry I was typing when you replied...

So you would need to look at your Recording options under HDD area... Make sure that your Sub Channels are set to Record as well...

I think by default they are not set to record to save on space..

Edit: Well it is 436 here so I am off Hope you have a good rest of the weekend

I believe you need a more powerful NVR like a NV5208E. Perhaps you can return the old one.
