Easy Viewer App

Post by AngieTexas »

I have better luck with outdated & discontinued Internet Explorer to view and interact with the NVR5208E, than I do with the recommended Chrome Easy Viewer App. I can't believe, it's 2020 and these are my options to view my brand new NVR.

Maybe it's me, it has been in the past and I am sure it will in the future, but if not, can you please help advise me on the following.

1. There is a green X highlighter that appears over the video of the selected channel. It is pretty annoying and at times, gets all crazy out of shape.

Image:

2. Along the footer, there is suppose to be a sync checkbox, it does not appear at all no matter the number of channels selected.

Image:
no-sync.jpg
no-sync.jpg (6.12 KiB) Viewed 3961 times
3. There should be a Start Talk button on the lower left menu, it does not appear.

Image:
start-talk.jpg

4. There are times during playback, that the channel data in green yellow and red colors actually goes off the right side of the app, instead of 0-24, it goes out of range at like 16 and the arrows to scroll right or left do nothing. I can magnify the data, but that just makes it worse.

5. I understand the need to export to .dav, but I have a real problem with not having builtin support for .mp4 and worse, not supporting the H.265 compression that is a highlight of both the cameras and NVR I purchased.

There are no available updates that I can find for the Amcrest Software or the Easy Viewer App.

6. Auto Logout: I have tried entering 0 and still, every hour the NVR automatically logs out. If anyone knows a remedy to this, it would be greatly appreciated. Having to repeatedly re-login gets old fast. Each time you login, you have to connect all the appropriate stream, change the HD settings from default on each channel as well as
other specific settings. Very frustrating.

7. The FAN on the NV5208 is LOUD and Annoying, does anyone have a suggesting that might help quiet things without hurting the NVR?

8. Last but not least, I have 4 IP8M cameras that do not have audio, so I purchased an outdoor mic to install in the vicinity of the main camera. The mic is plugged into the NVR mic in. If I press, Start Talk in the web browser, I can hear sound fine. I was under the impression, that the mic in port would record to channel one. But I am not getting any sound recordings at all. Did I waste a lot of time and money or is this actually suppose to work?

Please help if you can.

Try using Amcrest Surveillance Pro 2.0 available at
https://amcrest.com/forum/amcrest-surve ... 13561.html

BTW, Internet Explorer is not discontinued as you mentioned. It comes with Windows 10 and will be supported by Microsoft as long as Windows 10, which is currently until 2025.

Hello again... Sorry your having some issues with your new system...

First about the Mic In I am afraid that it is for Mic of maybe for you to talk with a person at a camera location with a Speaker on camera or off a speaker output of the camera... Then the Speaker would be for access to listen if your connected to D-Sub and not HDMI

For Mic to work you would need a camera with a Mic or at least a Mic Input...

About the Fan.. I am going to guess that it could be that the Fan is just needing 1 of 2 adjustments.. 1 a Offset of the case, This could be rubber or even some Hot Glue could work... Easier yet is it might be that the Fan is coming in contact with the Wiring that goes to the fan or front USB cables. taking the top off can find out if that is the issue as it has been seen on other recorders...

If you are in need of a Fan replacement I have done a Write up of doing such to one of my units.. I think I did i will have to look for it.. But if memory serves me right you need to make sure they are 5vdc fans and you can get them from Noctua They are great fans and very low almost can't tell they are even running... But I am thinking a wire movement or spacer will make the one you have work for a good long while...

jack7 - I thought Amcrest Surveillance Pro 2.0 was strictly for those that use PCs to store data. I downloaded and installed it and guess what???? It has a larger viewing area and doesn't kick me out every hour. It is a totally different layout to get used to, but it is by far a more solid program for viewing the cameras. I will have to check out the playback and other features, but at this point, it is already a step in the right direction!

Thank you!

Revo2Maxx,

You are very kind to respond to my issues. I have read different opinions on using external mics, even on the Amcrest website, the one I purchased was recommended, thou not am Amcrest product. I tried to find a solution to buying cameras that I assumed had audio and learned after the fact, they did not. I hate to return anything, so it kills me when I don't get it right. I believe, and I strongly recommend, one should make a list of what is important and seek consultation regarding what should be purchased. I ended up buying a lot I don't need and having to make returns. Ugggg.

It's a big investment for us and it needs to be right, for the long run. So we will get camera's with builtin audio (IP8M-T2499EW-40MM) and move past this problem.

I wanted to use Amcrest because they are a local business and we wanted to support local businesses during the covid-19 pandemic. They are only 36 miles away from us. But, I think, it turned out to be more of a headache for them then good.

As for the fan, I don't want to do anything to void the warranty. Replacing it, may happen down the road. But, just for the record, it is loud.

Thank you for your ongoing help!!!

Understand about Replacing and a Warranty Issue.. One thing I will say is that Opening it shouldn't as most cases Amcrest units don't come with HDD installed and one needs to open to make such an install... One thing to Note if you were to find that the Fan was just plain bad I would bag the Fan and replace it.. If in the event you needed to return the unit take it from bag replace the old one and make the Return...

I bought 2 units 1 with 2 fans one with 1.. Both of them came loud and before I even looked I just bought new fans form Noctua for the units sadly come to find out one of them a simple moving of the wires that was being hit was all that was needed and for the other one I didn't find out what the issue was until after I had already made the upgrade to the new fans... That was because when I was done tested the unit it was nice and didn't make any noise.. I took it to my Security room and when I installed in there turn on it was back, so took apart and found the wires were against fan and causing noise... Put it back in service and took out other one took apart and sure enough cable was hitting fan.. Double sided taped it down and no noise... While it isn't a whisper fan it isn't making such bad sounds either lol.. I would at least if nothing else check wires around fan see if they are the cause...

jack7,

OMG I just tried to export a clip and it allows for ASF, AVI, MP4 file formats. Easy Breezy!!!! I Love It!!!

I wish it included the ability to input specific start/end times like the web interface, but using the sliders works okay.

I am so happy, I don't have to use file converters!!!! Wahoooo!

Thank you so much for this suggestion!

Just keep track of your TImes.. I have yet to move over to ASP 2 and I no longer use asp besides for 1 camera that is a Smart Home camera anyway because it changes all my cameras to different times and that drives me insane lol

IMO, the 2597 is a better camera than the 2499, except it doesn't have a built-in mic or SD card slot.
What the 2597 does have is this:
A bigger sensor size with better low light illumination(see specs). That is important for quality night video.
A higher max. fps; 2597=30fps, 2499=15fps. You said before that 30fps is important to you. Actually, if you are just using cams for regular surveillance, 15fps is fine. But if you want a quality video with the smoothest movement of fast moving objects, then 30fps would be better.
If you have any interest in keeping the 2597s, and just recording one separate NVR channel of audio from the external mic similar to how you planned before, let me know and I'll reply with an idea. It's already too much typing for me now. ;)

Okay, I have requested to cancel the 2499s. See what happens.

I really like these cameras I have, I was under the impression, I could run an external mic, which I have done and plugged it into the mic input on the back of the NVR. When I click the Mic icon on ANY channel in the Surveillance Pro software, the mic comes on, so it is working fine. Just not recording.

I would truly appreciate trying your suggestion, when you have time to share it. Adding sound to 1 channel would work for me.

I guess another alternative would be adding an inexpensive camera with audio without much concern for video quality.

Thanks Again,

Angie :)
