Hey everyone. I'm trying to configure a 5216, but the same question applies to older/different models of Amcrest NVRs.
I have all my cameras added into the NVR(s), and everything has been working great. But trying to view multiple cameras leaves a bit to be desired. I can view 1, 4, 8, 9, 16, sequence, or a custom split view. However, I can't seem to configure WHICH cameras I view. If I select a 4 camera view, it will only show me cameras 1-4, OR 5-8, etc. I cannot customize which combination of cameras I see in this view.
Same goes for the custom split. I can create a custom 13 camera split view (single larger camera in the middle, surrounded by smaller thumbnails of the rest of the channels). But I can't configure which camera is presented on the larger square. If the larger square lines up with camera #5, then that's the only camera that can be shown.
Is there any way to change this behavior? Or is this something that would have to be done as a feature request?
Custom split or customized order of camera views
Re: Custom split or customized order of camera views
I am not sure if you have looked inside your NVR or if it came with the HDD installed.. But While yours is way above any of mine seeing I only have the 4108 and 2116 sadly only way I can do a custom view on the NVR it self is when I use the View 8 mode.. In this mode it gives me 1 large window and 7 small ones.. I can take lets say Ch8 and drop in the large window of the view it will stay this way until I change it or change views...
Anyway another you can do if you wanted is you can log into the NVR over it IP address and then when the NVR comes online if you don't have it setup to load last view you can pick what camera loads in what window for display.. Then you can save that view to load every time you log in if you wanted...
Another option however I am is major dislike to the Program you could use ASP and setup your camera view anyway you want as well.. So there are options just not much in the Way of the NVR... Funny thing is my 4108 is a larger unit then my 16ch 2116 and looking at the MB it is amazing how it works with such little hardware in relation to my long older units from many years ago the tech has come a long way... With that said I am going to guess because of the compactness of the systems it might limit on how much it can do.. I do know that the MB's are double sided so we are not seeing all the electronics on just the top side but still without having large amounts of RAM or even ROM it might be the limiting factor on Views

Re: Custom split or customized order of camera views
Thanks for the suggestions! My NVR is fed into a home video distribution system via HDMI, so I don't have to keep a computer running all the time to view my cameras. Hence my hopes of customizing the cameras that I can see on screen.
I previously had a cheap, generic $50 8ch no name NVR that would allow me to swap camera positions no matter what view I was in. It wouldn't remember the positions if i changed views, but it worked. I also have a 4108 that I've been using for many years, and you're right, in the 8 view mode (1 large, 7 small), i can double click different cameras to bring them into the large view. But this doesn't work as well when you have more than 8 cameras.
I was debating for a long time between the 4116 and the 5216, and opted for the more expensive unit for the physical alarm connections and gigabit ethernet connection. still on the fence if I made the right choice, but I've only had it for a few weeks, so only time will tell. At least it still has an IR port, so I can use an IR blaster and remotely change views between multi camera and single camera.

Awesome.. Double click you don't have to do.. Just saying next time all you have to do is drag and drop... Just right click drag and drop that is how I do it anyway..
About other Brand or no name NVR's I have a 16ch that cost me 80ish for the board, cables, and everything but the case and while it was different I was able to make some changes in display as well.. It is in the Closet not being used right now because I don't like the feeling I get when I used it like it was open to the world and I am not to cool with the idea of Country of origin having the ability to have access without me knowing it.. SO for now I will use it only when needed if I am doing cleaning or something with my Amcrest NVR's and need the system to record to something while the others are offline...

Re: Custom split or customized order of camera views
When looking at the display attached to the NVR, have you tried right-clicking and selecting sequence? I don't know why the option is literally nowhere else, but you can drag and drop camera order there.
