Animal detction with IVS

Post by kanewolf »

Has anyone successfully configured an IVS enabled camera for animal detection at night?
I know something is getting into my yard, but I don't know what. The use cases shown for IVS are people. Do you have an example that has successfully captured cat sized objects in IR night mode?

I have good view of the yard Image

I use Tripwire. It doesn't always catch everything, but it does trigger on cats and raccoons most of the time. Uncheck Object Filter. I actually changed mine to detect humans only because I was getting too many hits on animals.

If you are setup with NVR I would go to storage record then on sub channel change from off to manual, it will record full time on sub channel and can playback to see if your system missed something on ivs. Will record full time with out it being setup in schedule. If you have to have Main channel record change it to manual, save space set sub. When you want to playback in search click on the channel you want then click the m will change to s and your full time playback will show up

Why would I not have my cameras recording main channel? Just a disk space thing?

Mainly space, But in the event issue it also chops up your recordings. So if you have an event and are full recording in main, Your event will start and might cause something to be missed in playback if you were doing an event search lookup.. I mean if you were doing a playback for all day and kept all types of events enabled then it might be ok. However there is another issue that can come up. If there is a time issue with your NVR and camera that does happen at times this can make for a mess in your recordings.. So having events on Main and full time on Sub is best for me. plus my NVRs offer 2 or more HDD and I can pick what HDD the events or sub channel is being recorded on.

I still do it for my other NVRs as well even with the 1 hdd. setup full time recording on Sub. As it works best for my needs..

Just trying to offer something that might help capture what ever it was you are dealing with. Most people don't know that you can setup to record full time on Sub and thought if you wanted to record full time on Main you would have it already scheduled in and wouldn't be trying to capture an animal using Advanced Ai tech. At least you could have something to fall back on if nothing was captured using the Filtered Ai..

Ok, I don't even know anymore.. I have way to many cameras to keep up what is what these days.. Looking over one of my cameras that does have Object filter ability. Why turn them on? I would setup your Tripwire or Intrusion and don't even enable the Filters and see if that helps..

Sorry I have so many devices that I forget at times how things work. For some crazy reason thought that on Cameras with filters ability that they had to have 1 on of the 2. This is only true of you enable the Filters.. I have just as many Semi Ai cameras if not more then the filter type Ai cameras and have forgot that the Object filters is an optoin not required.
