I have my DVR set up to record over old video when the hard disk is out of space. Usually this works fine, but the DVR is not happy and keeps beeping and sending me emails that the hard disk is full.
I have tried turning on auto-maintain to delete old files, but the DVR simply does not delete the old files.
What is stored on the hard disk? If I format it, do I lose all of the software? Do I lose my settings? Or do I just lose all the video?
What does "format" mean in terms of the DVR?

Hello DataJunkie,
Formatting will only erase all the recorded videos on the hard drive. Please ensure that under settings > System > General > general that the HDD full option is set to 'Overwrite'. Please try formatting it once and see if that fixes the issue if its already set this way.
