Also not sure how it could look Great over BI and bad on your TV? You said the issue isn't cable or power because it looks great over BI. This leaves one cable that is your HDMI or D-Sub however you are connecting from the DVR to your TV.. If there is any type of crossing of Power cables or anything that could induce noise into the HDMI cable that is going to be my Guess..
The Camera will only display in BI what is feeding BI so with the camera going to the DVR and the DVR feeding BI only 7fps is going to be able.
So for some reason I can't upload images right now as I was going to show you what I am talking about from one of my cameras where pressing the right or left arrow lets me change from 5mp, 4mp and so on from the OSD. In your Cameras OSD there is no settings for changing the Encoding type?
Very Disappointed by AMC4KBC28 8MP Analog Camera
Re: Very Disappointed by AMC4KBC28 8MP Analog Camera
I appreciate your input as usual. And I understand the potential causes of HDMI image/audio issues, but all the other cameras look great, including the 5MP cameras. I'll worry about that later as I'm making a little progress. The stream to BI is likely coming straight off the encoder to the network interface anyway. And yes, BI shows exactly what is being streamed to it on a camera by camera basis in real time similar to VLC viewer. That said, I'm in the process of revisiting the resolution and format setting via the OSD and indeed discovered some flexibility there that didn't seem to provide any response when I initially tried to mess around with it. So far it's not playing nice and doesn't want to match up with the encoding on the DVR. I can drop down to 6MP@12fps on the camera but the DVR goes straight to 5MP instead with no 6MP option listed in the encoding selections. It may want to see a different mode (TVI/AHD?) for that resolution. I'll report back after exploring it more thoroughly. There may be some hope after all!
Re: Very Disappointed by AMC4KBC28 8MP Analog Camera
The problem is that your DVR isn't' able to run 6mp. If you look in the settings for the Encoding type it does many others however 6mp isn't an option and might not have been something that was used at the time the DVR was made. Knowing that 8k, 5mp, 4mp and lower was a thing at that time 6mp isn't something that was to common at that time the DVR came out.. At this time for some reason I am not able to post a picture however I did make a snap shot of the DVR's format supported just no way at this time to post it..
So I figured I would just post using a different site for now. Tried to post as a img however it didn't' work. Maybe because I have it as Hidden I don't know. I mean most times with a link Hidden don't matter. SO that is the image below sorry it isn't playing well with me tonight The Web Site that is..

Ah, yes. That hadn't occurred to me even though it was right under my nose. Thanks for pointing it out. Will probably save me an hour or two of pissin' up a rope trying to figure it out otherwise!
Re: Very Disappointed by AMC4KBC28 8MP Analog Camera
Actually, the DVR is indeed able to run 6MP..., and probably anything else a compatible camera tells it to do within the actual 4K top end resolution capability of the DVR hardware and the associated firmware. The key is having the 'Channel Type' specifically set to that of the camera.., in this case, CVI. The 'Auto' setting clearly doesn't necessarily detect (or properly process) the configuration set up from the OSD, at least not the resolution/fps parameter in this particular case.Revo2Maxx wrote: ↑Wed Apr 26, 2023 7:35 pm The problem is that your DVR isn't' able to run 6mp. While the disappointing limitations are still there, revisiting the encoding possibilities within the OSD at least provided the advertised flexibility, more or less. I guess I'll learn to live with it, but my system is primarily a real time observation setup, not a 5fps parking lot rig. The lousy image on the TV is probably a resolution mismatch somewhere, but the camera looks beautiful on my workstation monitor via the webUI and through Blue Iris and the server monitor. All in all, $44.00 well spent after a discount and some Amazon credit and I may buy another one at $60.00 after kicking the tires on this one a little more. One aspect that did surprise me was the IR performance. Better than expected, but definitely a power hog. Cheesy coax and a wimpy power supply aren't gonna cut it with this camera.
Anyway, thanks for the input as usual.
Re: Very Disappointed by AMC4KBC28 8MP Analog Camera
So you get your camera sorted out? I will let you know when i get mine how they work out with my 8M16-H5 and my 7108, Also bought from Amcrest today a 5mp color at night Analog camera for kicks to add to my order of Cameras. Really wish it was a bullet because the area I want to mount it is kind of Shallow and not able to take a wide base. Almost bought another IP camera however I have gone away from buying Analog cameras for some time now and thought I would get 3 Analog cameras at the cost of what I was going to pay for 1Ip. The 5mp is a A5TN28-W. Non of them really have the right lens for my needs. However I have enough cameras that I will maybe after Warranty just re lens them with a VF or one with in my need range. One of the things l like about my older cameras is most of them are VF if not Motorized VF.

Re: Very Disappointed by AMC4KBC28 8MP Analog Camera
I can say I love the image quality and the night vision is very good. The downside is still the total misrepresentation of the frame rate specs which are published as essentially double what the camera actually does. That's pure BS from Amcrest and I let them know in no uncertain terms. Their reply was the usual "We're sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused you. We will make every attempt to correct any inaccuracies as soon as possible." They omitted the "Please return the item for a full refund" part -- which I'm still tempted to do just on pure principle.
On the other hand, I have a Reolink RLC-811A running with the configuration shown below which goes totally against the DVR spec of only 7fps @4K. And that's with all other channels loaded to at least 1080p with three of them at 5MP. I'm liking this DVR more and more. Just wish it had twice the bandwidth but am certainly not complaining.
And while the Reolink 811 has its own problems, I'd be interested to know if an Amcrest 4K IP camera would also perform at 20 or so fps on a DVM8 or if they have proprietary restrictions in the firmware to simply conserve bandwidth. The Reolink proves the capability is there with third party cameras so I don't know why Amcrest would restrict their own.
I'm interested in how yours work out.
Re: Very Disappointed by AMC4KBC28 8MP Analog Camera
Well you got lucky with your ReoLink camera because I know a good few people that find them to be a not so great camera when it comes to playing with other devices.. Maybe you found one that does play well..
About that! The IP of the DVR is little better over stated in the way of abilities then it was for Analog cameras.. On most of my systems there was a big stretch from 1 way or another when it comes to adding IP cameras to the DVR.
Now for someone with a 5m8 Ai or the 7108 DVR you will not want to use it with IP cameras if you want the AI ability. On my 8m16-H5 sure I could and I have added Ip for testing but it gets all messed up in the normal analog side when I do that. My 8mp cameras were damaged in shipping and I declined to accept the package and so it was returned. As soon as they are shipped out again (hope new and not the same ones just checked over) as soon as I get them I will test on both systems.
However the 7108 and my 8mp cameras be it Amcrest or Dahua are only 15fps so it would not help to test with them because I already know the DVR will work at 15fps.
However you will need to keep in mind. That your DVR is where your cameras limit is. So for me I know the reason I bought the 7108 over the 5116 was because one was 7fps over 15fps and I was not going to go down. Now as I said when I bought the 7108 back in the day when I first got it I was not very happy to find that them numbers (That didn't at the time say for 8mp) was only for 8mp and my 5mp was 20fps and my 1080p cameras were at 30fps.. The lessor model had same 5mp and 1080p fps and had I known at that time I would have bought the 5116 over my 7018 seeing it was like 20 or 40 cheaper and 2 times the channels. Most of my DVR's are 16ch. Not all I said most lol..
Oh well. Now for your DVR the stats say that 8mp is 1-7fps. On the stat sheet it don't state what the max FPS is for IP that I can find. However I know that I do have a system that is 30fps Analog and that same format aka MP in a IP camera it would work at upto 60fps.. I tested it seeing I have an IP camera that would do 60fps. However it really didn't look good. The camera looked much better in 30fps or lower and so I leave it at 22fps for my main and 18 FPS in my IP cameras for all of the ones that I can setup there is where I put them normally. Also in HTML playback on Chrome there is no longer any Frame by Frame playback so why worry about much over 15 these days anyway.. I still use IE and I do use Frame by Frame a lot. However for others that have not played with such a thing it isn't even known..
For our 8mxx-H5
Main Stream: 4K(1~7fps); 5MP(1~12fps); 4MP/3MP(1~15fps);
1080P/720P/960H/D1/CIF/QCIF(1~25/30fps) Sub Stream: 960H (1~15fps);
D1/CIF/QCIF(1~25/30fps)
There is no data shown for IP FPS so my guess it was never tested and spec sheet updated to reflect any good numbers. I know that them numbers and the numbers for 7108 were not there at the time I bought both recorders
So even if your Camera will work at 25fps it would need to be paired with a DVR that will support that max FPS on said stream...

Re: Very Disappointed by AMC4KBC28 8MP Analog Camera
Why would Amcrest make a 4K camera capable of 15fps@8M and not make a compatible DVR for it? Then they specify it will only work with Amcrest DVRs at 1-7fps. Makes no sense. 'Course the camera specs are incorrect anyway, so which is it?
Or do they actually make a mystery DVR that's capable of 15fps on analog channels at 4K? I've looked for one, but not that hard. Maybe there is one?
Otherwise, it makes way more sense to just buy 4K IP cameras for the AMDV8s in the first place. If they'll run a Reolink, they should run their own.

Re: Very Disappointed by AMC4KBC28 8MP Analog Camera
My 7108 is 15fps at 8mp yes. It is newer Tech and AI DVR. At the time the 8M8 and 8M16 was released they didn't even offer a 8mp camera that was over FPS.. So if we look at this 5mp TVI you can see that the 7108 will run it at 20fps. However on the 8m16-H5 it will only work as yours does at 12fps.
Don't know why this Thread don't like me to upload images lol However in my Imgur is a picture of one of my 5mp TVI cameras and it shows 20fps.. Same camera on my 8m16 only at 12fps. However to tell you the truth there isn't much you can notice between the 12 and 20 in most cases today anyway..
