Tour only works for an hour or so

Post by huskerfan »

Hi there,
I have a P2M-853EW and a IP4M-1053EW ptz camera.

I set it to Tour and it tours for about an hour or two and eventually when I go to bed it stops.

I wonder if it's because the PC goes to sleep so it stops?

I'm obviously using Amcrest Surveillance Pro.
If it makes any difference I use an Amcrest NVR and currently have 10 camera's hooked up to monitor my house.

Could it be that ASP uses too much ram on my computer so it bogs down?

Also, I've noticed if I view the one PTZ camera and then switch view to all 10 it stops.
Strange behavior. Why doesn't it hold it's position?

Well my guess is going to be it is an ASP issue. WOW.. I just turned on my computer that I use with ASP, brought up LIve view for 4 cameras, I set one of my 850's to do a 5 preset tour and what I mean above about turned on, Meaning turned on the auto sleep because by default I have most of my computers not sleep because I use them for Servers most of them...

Anyway after much longer then I wanted to wait my computer still didn't want to fall asleep and looked at my screen saying it was going to sleep for longest time I am guessing because I have my GPU to sleep I didn't look at that.. Anyway after about 30 min I got tired of waiting and the 850 was still going.. So I thought ok lets shut down ASP and see what happens.. Yeah don't want to do that again lol.. Looking at my 850 on my NVR, after shutting down my ASP it killed my 850 lol. It isn't setup to Reboot at this hour or day but after doing s shut down with the 850 in a tour the camera reboot and went back to Preset 1 where I have it setup to go after 1 min of no activity and after a reboot..

So with it acting like that I am going to guess it was an issue with ASP and your 853 and 1053...

However While I do have a few years older Camera it might be that your camera has some features like one of my other brand cameras have where I can setup a Schedule for when I want a tour to run, or what preset I want to be my home preset on any given day.. I know that my 850 don't have all them type of settings within that camera. I know another forum member that has said his camera has way more data then mine and loads of options that mine don't. So I am not sure about types of features as never gone over any of them...

SO if it wasn't me running my 850 in a tour I would guess it also might be something within your cameras Schedules if it offers such

Thanks. I think I'll try to set the tour directly from the NVR and see what happens. The NVR never sleeps, right?

None of my NVR's sleep.

So not sure what or why however something you might want to think about is maybe setting up Static cameras to then on motion have your PTZ camera go to a Preset to help save your motors in your camera.. Now I have not looked at the inside of the 850 or any of yours before and if they are anywhere built like any of my other PTZ cameras that I have taken apart and even replaced some belts and stepping motors in before while they are great motors the belts and motors can fail.. Using a Static camera to tell your PTZ camera to go to a Preset is best way to keep the hours low on your PTZ Motors.

So last night while I was messing about with the Tours there was some things that I seen within the moving of the camera by the time it returned it was gone... So while my 850 isn't the same as my other branded PTZ's or some of the others anyway where they will detect motion and pickup and even track someone or something with in the Tour setup and if your 853 or 1053 was something like that then having on a tour is ok I guess as long as it can stop and watch something within the area of tour.. Not all of my Older PTZ have that option but the ones that do I wouldn't have an issue using a Pan, Pattern or tour if needed. Where I have my cameras installed now days I have other cameras that can take IVS like Line Crossing or such, when that happens it will tell my PTZ to go to a Preset that is in that area so I can see things better.. Nothing worse then something going out of Frame and have nothing able to see what is going on because the PTZ camera is off doing something else..

Did a test last night. I set the tour action directly from the NVR and it worked all night long.

So, indeed, if you set tour action from a laptop or PC it will stop because your PC goes to sleep or logs you out automatically.
Only other solution is to not set your PC to go to sleep but I have easy access to my NVR so that will be my solution.
