Sleep / Low power mode?

Post by JoseJones »

Hi. First post! :D

I put a Amcrest ProHD 1080P WiFi in my Chicken run a couple weeks ago to help combat a rat problem. It's been a huge help to figure out how they were getting in!

My issue is I don't have AC power in the run and use a solar/12V DC batter to run a few items (LEDs, Coup door, etc.) I put a DC-DC Buck Step Down Voltage Converter to run the camera at 5V but it's a power hog compared to the few seconds/minutes the other accessories. And now my battery can't keep up with the consumption. I was going to put a relay between the converter and battery and use this to turn off the power when not needed. However, I thought maybe there are some advanced features I could tap into before I choose the easy route? Is there an API or other feature set I can tap into, or is the ability to remote power down the camera not available?

Thank you for your help!

Hello JoseJones ,

Unfortunately there is no power save option available in this camera. What you can do to slightly help the situation is to turn off the night vision but that may not be the best solution in your case. Also remotely panning tilling camera consumes power so that is another thing you can keep a check on.
