Pro HD 1080p Wifi Bullet Cam - status lights?

Post by JohnT »

Today I received my Pro HD Wifi Bullet Cam (Model IP2M-842B).

Trying to add the cam using the wireless procedure (Amcrest Pro app on Android) failed. Setup using Ethernet cable also failed.

How do I tell the cam is "on"? After plugging in the power there are no LEDs that show the camera is working / ready to be added to my network. Should there be some blinking blue LED, signaling readiness, similar to my Foscam IP cameras?

I found this sentence in the Amcrest user manual: "The camera is ready when the LED on the back is blinking green (or solid green)." But my camera has no LED on its back. Where can I find this LED?

Hello JohnT ,

There is no indicator light on this camera. What you can do to test if its getting power is to cover the camera lense with your hands or a cloth and see if the LED's on the front shows a red glow. You should also get a clicking sound. Also try hard resetting the camera by joining together the two wires on the back of the camera for 30 seconds.

Thanks for your reply, Melvin. I hear the soft clicks, and I see the LEDs glowing red in the dark, so that's progress!

But the cam still fails to connect to my 2.4GHZ wireless network (D-Link 860L). After scanning the QR code and entering the network password I am getting "Wifi connection failed".

I then enter "Ethernet Wifi setup" mode. Here the screen asks me to enter my Wifi network name. I do that, but the error is "Failed to get Wifi list, please return back...". The "Next" button is grayed out.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,
John

Hello JohnT,

Connect the camera to the DVR and try to do the desktop set up method from PC. Please contact our support team if you are still facing issues.
