PoE - IP5MP-T1179EW-28MM
I purchased this turret cam and after a couple months it started losing video signal. Blue Iris 5 will find and inspect the camera no problem, but it does not display video until I unplug it and back in. I have the latest firmware update for the camera. On my other Amcrest cameras the IR lights crap out very fast, imo. I'm thinking about trying another brand, suggestions are welcome.

No body has lose of video signal with this camera? Mine is the only one? I find that hard to believe, this camera just goes out randomly BI5 shows the cam as connected and working properly just no video signal, I'm totally disgusted with this camera. I wish this happened while it was still under 30 day warranty I would have returned it but now I'm stuck with this paper weight.

To be honest there is a lot going on and not much data for someone to help you with this problem.. Last month you report an issue and at the end you talk about finding a different brand. Normally that drives the ability to want to help someone.. That isn't my issue I try to help either way.. I just don't know what you have done, I don't know the Cables, length, type of install, what you have tried or anything about the issue outside the camera starting to give you issues after your Return is over? Camera over a Year old? If there is a Issue and you have contacted Amcrest Support and they have tried to find root cause and can't seem to get this issue solved you have a 1 year that you can get a Replacement from Amcrest if bought from Auth Dealer... So there is still hope if it is within that...
Next what type of install are you working with? Cat 5e, Cat6a or some other type that is split between Wifi Bridges?
You working on POE or you have 12v installed at camera location or you using POE Injector or some other type of power?
What have you done to try and track down the cause? have you tried to run a different camera at the location to see if maybe the camera is asking for to much power or maybe it is just that the Length of power is less then the cable your running? Have you tried to turn off the LED at night to see if maybe it is causing the power loss or Offline issue?
It to me almost sounds like there is a cable issue that maybe the Data pair is damaged and with the wind or something else just at right moment causes the data to be lost.. Personally I would pull a new cable to the camera and test.. If no cable in length then I would pull camera and bench test it with a Good Copper cable of length to eliminate that as a issue...
Then next comes down to if your working with POE is it managed? have you looked at your Switches Logs to see if it is reporting the Errors and maybe able to find the Root cause by looking at the data? If not on POE have you tried the cable in a Different PORT of your Hub or router? have you removed and installed the end back into the camera? Damage could be at the ends just as easy as it could be in the cables... IMHO there is no cable better then Solid Copper cabling.. Stranded cabling has to many issues in path?
If you made the cables and don't have any extra and suspect your cables. One thing that someone can do is use the 2 pairs that were not normally used to make a new connection and see if that solves the connection issue..

the warranty time for returns. I've got thousands into this system so forgive me if I get
a little pissed or sarcastic with my posts when this stuff fails.
I replaced a dome camera on the same line it never once lost signal or went out in the 8-10 months it was up.
I changed it because it was a dome cam and created lens anomalous and weird glares on the lens that I did not like.
Now I suppose the line could have went bad but imo not likely. imo everything was pointing to the new camera and
not the line whereas I did not have signal loss with the other camera.

The cable I am using is Truecable with a solid core and I have the 8 port Amcrest poe injector.

About your camera and my post sorry just trying to offer some things that can happen and a way to solve it!?
I have made cables since before the time of MAN lol Just kidding but feels that long lol.. Anyway some of the issues I had many years ago was not even an issue with the cables it was the Connectors that I had bought to install.. Most times I was buying some that were said to have 1000+ connections and others I just bought in a fast need.. Come to find out the ones I bought in a fast need, would fail more often that I care to admit.. Some times it wouldn't even be 1 or 2 connections because after making them I would always test in my Network testing tool Then I would connect to device and all things worked. Then to get calls back about the system failing to work as expected and I would go back test and sure enough bad.. Replace end and lucky for me there was only 4 clients that I used them connectors on and was able to contact the others and make the repairs before any others could fail or report they failed.. This was after I made some patch cables and did some testing in my own network...
Replacing a camera with camera of different model at times can be problematic.. When a camera has a Range and another one might not or the system has issues it can be hard to track down.. For me, Not that everyone wants to do these things I will take a camera from a known good area connect to another to just make sure it was cable or camera, If it works in Location X that has same feet of cable or within same distance and don't fail then I can guess maybe a Port on the Switch if not working with a Managed Switch, I will change Port to make sure However if it fails on a good cable then I know it is camera related.. IF it don't fail on good same sized cable then I know to look at cable, connectors and or other hardware between failing end and switch.. Pulling cable can damage them, kinks, going over Power lines, and other factors needs to be investigated to find the faults at times when it isn't a total fail..
So here is something that kind of has me in an unknown state.. When a Camera fails, it fails normally.. I have a few that are Dead.. It is very rare for a Camera to fail (Go Offline) and return after a Reboot that isn't related to the camera not retaining the IP and or a Camera that is requiring to much current for the setup it is in.. However if it is night time and it is going out of connection I would assume it is Related to IR, This can be caused by IR taking to much power and Switch over cable distance not able to supply the power needed and or second fail would be caused by a Short in the IR board when it tries to turn on the board is short and causes the camera to shut down to save itself..
Another thing and seeing you have said your using real cables this isn't a issue but could be for others reading this.. Using cables that are not good, as the Temp of the cables raise they change the Resistance and can cause the camera to go offline.. Most times this is going to be day time issue, High current camera issue and in some causes this will destroy the cameras Voltage regulator rather then kill the fuse.. I can't believe how many cameras I have repaired the Voltage Regulator and no damage was done to the fuse..
