Need some help.
I'm trying to setup up a new POE IP8M-2496EB camera to a NVR (NV4116E-hs). All the ports are full on the NVR, there is a switch hooked up to the NVR.
That is where I am plugging my Ethernet cable. I'm using a ubiquity bridge
to the camera. I don't think that will effect my question.
To set up the new camera, do i first need to plug the camera directly into the switch that is plugged into NVR, and then will it connect to the NVR and set up that way. And then take to its destination. Or do I have to go through the mobile app. Just want the simple way. I wish the was a video to direct me.
POE Bullet Camera set up.
Re: POE Bullet Camera set up.
Hello and welcome to the Forum...
So to better understand this better? You have a 16Ch NVR that all ports are filled and your trying to add another camera to it?

Re: POE Bullet Camera set up.
Sorry for the confusion.
There is 8 POE ports on the back. All are filled except #4.
Also not all channels are filled.
D8 is open.
For some reason the port labeled # 4 did not power up my ubiquity bridge.
But when plug it in to the switch, it's good.
I just need to know if I need to go through the NVR to set up camera, from the start, or do I need to download app on phone and then try to add to nvr.

Re: POE Bullet Camera set up.
Ok well on Page 62 of the User manual there is a Caution Statement....
Important
Do not connect a switch to the PoE port, otherwise the connection may fail!
Please connect the IPC to the PoE port on the device’s rear panel. The system can auto connect to the network camera.
Also note the IP on the camera can only be changed to Static from the Cameras WebUI needs to be done before connection to NVR...

Re: POE Bullet Camera set up.
Thanks, so much. As you can tell. I don't nothing about NPR's. I'm just trying to add a camera. Could it be I need to go into one of the settings in the nvr to turn on the poe port on the back of the nvr to turn it on.or should it automatically be on.Not sure. Thanks for your help.
Re: POE Bullet Camera set up.
So , really, before connecting to nvr, I need to use mobile devices to set up at first. Then plug into nvr.
Re: POE Bullet Camera set up.
You can just set it up over your computer if you have one there... IP Config from Amcrest can help with the camera finding...
So this is what I do... DHCP is already on. So look at your Router Pool and screen shot or remember the IP that are already in play... Connect your new IP camera and let the Router give IP.. now you have the IP in your Router of that camera... Go to IE and type in say your IP address was. 10.0.1.110 you would type this into the browser and it will take you to the log in Screen. Most cases admin admin is the user and password to start.. Change it to something you can remember...
Make the changes needed. Changing the IP to Static and put in a Number you want it to be that is on your network... So say you wanted your cameras to be at 10.0.1.220 and up then you would change it... Save and make some other adjustments that you might want to make or just remember IP so you can make this adjustment in the future...

Re: POE Bullet Camera set up.
Thank you again, I am going to try this .
One more question. Out of the 8 POE ports, there is one empty, I want to plug into that one.But don't know how to make it live. Is there some type of direction how to. Like I said ,this is the first time with a nvr.

Re: POE Bullet Camera set up.
Should be able to make a Connection to a POE camera and it should work unless there is something wrong with the PORT... What I would do is look at your NVR under the cameras and look at see what IPs are already in Use in there... THen when you are making your Changes over the WebUI you can stay with the Same theme as you have them now...
Like maybe they are
10.0.120.101, Ch1
10.0.120.102, Ch2
10.0.120.103, Ch3
10.0.120.104, Ch4
10.0.120.105, Ch5
10.0.120.106, Ch6
10.0.120.107, Ch7
Then when you are setting up the one you have now.. you could make it 10.0.120.108 for Ch8 ...
You might be able to get away with just making the Connection of the camera to the NVR as it is and might be able to setup a IP that would work with your system as is...
Sorry if some of this seems mistaken in context.. I don't know really what is being done or what your trying to do.
Most times, Camera, Cable, POE NVR, Take camera connect to cable connect other end to NVR and log into NVR, Find the one that don't have the Green dot that may say Disconnected or something that isn't the same as the others that are connected and then you would click on the Pencil and change Password to the one you have setup for it. And then it should come online....
Camera maybe not a POE camera then you would need a POE Splitter, This takes the Cat6 or what ever your using and moves the power form that to a Plug that you can then plug into your cameras power port.... POE ports only power things that need to be powered.
