Plugins and Safari

Post by davidbod »

Just getting started, have an NV4108 and several IP2M-842 cameras. Just playing with one camera trying to get it setup with the NV4108. I'm using Safari 9.1.1 with OS X 10.11.5 and every time I try to access either the NV4108 or the Camera with Safari it tells me to first install the plugin? The plugins npTimeGrid and npmedia are already installed. I've checked permissions on the unix side with Terminal, and I have Safari set to "Allow Always" specifically for the IP address of the NV4108 and the Camera and for "When visiting other websites". I'm on my LAN hitting the NV4108 and Camera with its local IP from Safari. Can someone get me out of this endless loop?

OK more information. I can get one of either the NV4108 or the Camera and it's plugin working, but once I have one working the other will ask to install the plugin. If I proceed with that then it causes the other one to ask to install the plugin. So one is interfering with and disabling the other, and I can only get one of these to work at a time???

Hello davidbod,

When safari is open click on 'Safari' on the top left > Preferences > Security > internet plugins > Make sure plugin is allowed for both the ip addresses. If that is already done, I would suggest removing the plugin , clearing the browser cache and try again. To remove, you need to open the Macintosh HD > Librabry > Internet Plugins and remove the NPmedia file to trash.

You can also use the Amcrest Surveillance Pro software for MAC as an alternate method.

If you're using Safari 11, you may install the plugin from this link:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/rcoq9wc8gdquj ... a.pkg?dl=0

After installing it, visit the URL for your camera's feed and click to "Trust" the plugin. It will then work.

Cheers.

I upgraded the plug-in and it worked fine until I upgraded to the latest Amcrest firmware on my 2M-841 cameras. Now when I access the IP address of the camera, the log-in window appears but the browser freezes. Keyboard doesn't accept entry on either field and the Apple beachball spins. I deleted the plug-ins from the Library and re-installed it with no luck. Also reset the camera to default settings and still no luck. I can access the camera via Firefox but the plug-in no longer works for video. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

i'm having the same problem as br-amcrest. The browser freezes when I click the login button. I have already trusted this in the past and it used to work but the latest firmware messed up the plugin on safari. I'm using Mac High Sierra.

Hello hekg1,

Please try to delete the plugin and add it again by logging into the camera. Trust it when it prompts.

To remove the plugin, close the camera window and go to your macintosh HD > Library > Internet plugins and from here remove the files starting with NP (npmedia etc), usuall there are two files.
