IP8M-2796EW-AI - video goes snowy at same time 2 days in a row, bad camera?

Post by JimmyFal »

I have the IP8M-2796EW-AI.

I have a push notification enabled for CAM MASKING.

Yesterday and today at approximately but not the exact same time; I began to receive "cam masking" notifications non-stop.

I tried to remotely reboot the camera using the WEB interface and both times it did not work.

When I got home, I pulled the ethernet cord and replugged which still did not fix. I finally pulled the plug on the POE switch, and that seemed to do it.

The other cams on the POE switch had no issues at all.

Since I will be away for longer periods of time soon, I was wondering if I should swap out this cam for another one seeing as it is fairly new, like a week or 2 old.

Has anyone experienced this behavior before?

Would need more info about the Camera.

My guess is that there is not enough light at night and the cameras light source be it white light or IR is either turned off or there is some change done to the cameras settings that is making the picture black? Not sure something you would be able to fix from your AVP as pictured would have to log into the Cameras WebUI or access over ASP maybe. Best over WebUI.

http ://10.8.23.72/cgi-bin/magicBox.cgi?action=reboot There is a space after http however I just tested this over a remote connection to one of my cameras and it was able to reboot. Not sure how your connected Remote or if you mean via P2P however if over IP that should work it did on an older Amcrest 8mp don't see why it wouldn't on a newer one. Just put the text right, with your IP and should work!

In other words remove space after http and enter your ip for connection to your camera

I have the camera setup with a static IP and port forwarding. I am able to access it from the WEB UI, and from there AM able to reboot it. However 2 reboots yesterday did not fix it. Not until I pulled the plug on the POE switch did it wake up from the black Fuzz. I suspect maybe several reboots in a row might do something.

"Fill Light" setting is to IR MODE and auto.

Since it happened near the same time 2 days in a row, I began to suspect the PUSH trigger for the CAM MASKING event.

Today I turned OFF Cam Masking in PUSH configuration on the Mobile App. The time has come and gone, and so far no issue today. I might just wait it out for a bit and see if it goes several days in a row. I MIGHT try to reproduce the issue after several days, if I continue to have no issue.

Oh ok. Sorry I misunderstood what you meant about it not working? Thought you were saying that you tried to reboot the camera and the reboot didn't' work.

So another question I have. Seeing your picture was in Live View, Did you happen to make other changes today that would make your camera picture right?

If no other changes where made, Picture being right at 520pm it might be without Masking on you don't know that when the camera schedule to change in night time the IR MODE might not be same if your system is using both day and night modes. If your system is in Stock form Day Mode always then next issue could be related to IR heat and the IR being turned off? Not much really I can see in the Live View there is a Picture there. Just very dark

No changes made to picture, suspect that switch to, day/night as opposed to night/day (night TO day) and trigger to send PUSH notification of Cam Mask all coinciding may have caused this not sure yet. Maybe a bug. I'll keep an eye on it. My biggest concern is being able to fix this from afar as I cannot send anyone over to unplug the switch on a regular basis. So if it happens again, I will concentrate on remote fixes that might address the issue for a temp fix.

I am in stock Day Mode. The picture in the photo here I posted, is/was just dark it wasn't black and no picture. I did notice that the POE switch had a priority mode, and I had switched over to those ports after the first incident. But then the second incident happened.

I will do a couple more days with PUSH turned off, and then I will turn it back on again to see if I can reproduce the error. Thanks for checking in.
