ip8m-2597 setup problem

Post by garypsu67 »

The event, video detection, motion detection tab will not save. I set up motion detection areas, anti-dither, etc. When I click on save, it stays highlighted but doesn’t show that it saved. When I return to that screen, changes weren’t saved. I’ve tried this from a Windows laptop and an iPad. Same problem with both.

Since it won't save, go to System, Auto Maintain, Manual Reboot. If that doesn't fix it try the link below. It says there that you can try a web UI factory reset first before a physical one.

I noticed that camera has a 1/1.8" sensor that should provide better low light capability than other Amcrest 8M cameras.
Please report back on how that new camera model performs. Do you have 2.8, 4, or 6MM model?

Thanks for the suggestions. My POE switch is attached to a smart plug on a schedule, so the camera already reboots daily. The camera that this one replaced did not have this issue. Neither do my two Amcrest indoor wired cameras. I’ll try the reset after I’m certain that my exported config filed was saved. I don’t want to start over because the settings that I want are not too far off from what they are now. I picked the 2.8 lens because a wider view was most important to me. The camera is a major improvement over the IP3M-954 that it replaced. The higher resolution makes a large difference - especially at night. I’m happy with the performance.

Strangely, I was able to save the desired settings using the Microsoft Edge browser on my iPad. The settings would not save on my Firefox, Safari or Chrome browsers on my iPad or my laptop. ????

I agree :) - I don't mind bugs, there's no such thing as perfection after all. What I hate is inconsistency. I can handle and even enjoy problems as long as I know that x will happen every time I do y.

Wow, Microsoft Edge browser on iPad works. I wonder if it was ever even tried there. From the 2597 camera user manual:
Desktop Access Setup
This camera features the latest in JS technology which allows you to access your camera via a wide variety of web browsers including, Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari and other mainstream web browser via your PC or Mac computer.

Now when I try to save motion detection settings changes using the Edge browser on my iPad, “save successful” does not appear, but are saved - SOMETIMES. My camera does, however, seem to act as desired, including FTP. Hoping for a firmware update.

If you have problems changing settings anywhere using the Web UI, keep in mind that you can also change many camera settings using Amcrest View Pro or Amcrest Surveillance Pro.

Today, I can’t even get setup to work in any app or browser on my iPad. I wanted to adjust my sensitivity and threshold a bit. My IP8M-2597 is working OK, so I don’t want to mess up my settings.

Is anyone else having problems saving motion detection settings? Does your setup page show “save succeeded!”? Maybe my camera is defective. Amcrest has promised to contact me regarding this issue but has not.
