IP2M-841W-V3 network can't find camera

Post by Kyleax1 »

I've installed 3 of these at my office. I've had to hardwire and add devices via poe option because I can't find the camera via add wifi or search for device. I need to add more camera's and want to get the cloud service, but I need to be able to add camera's via wifi to add any more camera's because the other locations are not close to data ethernet ports.

Is there a reason I am having this problem? (My wifi network is 2.4g and has good coverage throughout the building).

Hello and Welcome to the forum..

There isn't a reason that one should have the issue.. However there might be an issue when you talk about building and maybe if it is a Corporate Wifi then there might be an issue with doing a normal Wifi Setup when it is looking for Internet access... So I would try again if you have access to the internet and in theory you don't need to use the POE method of installing the camera when you have cable connected.

So if you have 3 devices connected right now that are not connected the way you want then here is what I would do to start. First if you have Mac address blocking (Access Control) turned on it would be best to turn it off for the time being (That would be on your Router)

Then at a Terminal prefer a real windows or mac computer but if a Terminal is all that you have and as long as it has True Network access then log into the Cameras current Ip address that was handed out on the router, Then you will want to click on the Setup, then network, then TCP/IP tab. Then you will want to click the drop down and change the info to Wireless (So I am clear in the TCP/IP is Ethernet Card) there is a Drop down box there click that and change to Wireless, Then click on Static, Then give a good IP address that will be on your Networks range. Click save, Because your on Wired connection nothing will take place yet.

Now back on the left side in the Network area will have option that says Wifi click that, You will see it isn't enabled. Now Enable that tab, Then do a Search, then choose your Network SSID, then put in the password for the Wifi. Click save. Then the system should come back as connected. Then I would Reboot the Camera and when the camera is going off Remove the cable and network should be online with Wifi

Next with new cameras. It can be a PITA to get it to connect over Wifi from the start. Choose wifi, then scan the code, then put in SSID password and it will make tones and put your Phone in front of the camera and the camera will hear tones and should make connection. If it don't, plug in cable, Then put in all the steps above again clicking the wifi option and scanning the code, this time click Already connected and the camera should come up and let you setup wifi option.
Be Safe.

Also forgot the ones you have on app now you will want to remove from app and do setup again. Scan code on bottom then choose already connected method should let you put in password and connect. That again is after you do the changes outlined above to get wifi enabled on them.

However with your IT guy I am sure you will have it covered up and running with no problem.

Be safe
