Re: IP2M-841B Settings keep getting lost
The firmware upgrade in Sept 2016 seemed to fix the bug of the camera arbitrarily resetting itself to 1/1/2000 (thank you Amcrest!). However, my camera will still randomly reset itself (every 2-3 days) to the default pan location (90 degrees from where it was set) which makes the camera useless if there happened to be a break-in. The camera still loses its Day & Night configuration as well, resetting itself from "Day" configuration setting to the default "Auto" setting, both of these issues are original bugs I had before the firmware update. I like to have my camera set to "Day" setting at all times. Auto setting causes the camera to constantly switch itself between day and night during the night because of the TV and other light sources in the room, which is a nuisance. There seems to still be a bug in the firmware that causes this. The camera is NOT on the Cloud.

I'm also having this issue. The Video settings keep getting reset. They are NOT available on the cloud, so that is a non-issue. Need this fixed ASAP.

for this model after upgrading firmware it needs to be reset. and you cannot import formerly saved setting. and make sure it's not on amcrest cloud. The only problem I still have is that it does not automatically delete files older than X days even if I set so. By the way I do not set up the camera through app or windows pro software. I go directly to the webUI because I think that's the most reliable way.

minilude - by what method are you resetting? Through the online settings? Or is there a manual way on the camera itself for doing a hard reset?minilude wrote:for this model after upgrading firmware it needs to be reset. and you cannot import formerly saved setting. and make sure it's not on amcrest cloud. Hello moondawgie8 ,
You need to press and hold the indicator light on the back of the camera for 10 - 15 seconds. The light will turn red and the camera will do its initial pan/tilt after this. You need to set up the camera once again after this as it will reset all the settings

Re: IP2M-841B Settings keep getting lost
I purchased 4 of these IP2M-841 cams and had been experiencing all kinds of weird random behavior from all of them. All of them would lose their settings at random times and even reboot themselves several times during the day. My main issue was also the loss of the “Overwrite” setting on the Record Control area of the camera’s configuration. I am recording motion to the SD card on the camera.
I don’t have, or use, the Amcrest cloud storage option and instead use a third party freeware app called iSpy 64 to monitor and save the motion recorded footage onto my local hard drives.
I had all 4 cameras configured in this software which ended up being the entire problem. As best I can tell, configurations made in the iSpy 64 software are somehow written back to the Amcrest camera itself overwriting any settings on the camera. And the iSpy configuration is not clear in showing what settings are affected on the camera so I had no real way to know where in the iSpy software to change the correct setting.
I removed all 4 cameras from the iSpy 64 software and all 4 cameras are now behaving as expected. No more random rebooting, or overwritten configuration settings. All 4 cameras have now been running for 7 days without issue. Not sure how a third party app like iSpy 64 can actually make changes to these cameras but it sure did in my case. Hope this helps those struggling with similar issues. Particularly if using third party camera software.

Hysterical. I am hitting this with a brand new Amcrest camera with the Sept '16 firmware.
I called support and they told me "there's no such known issue".
Hah! Reading this thread has determined that was a lie.
And it's still a problem I see. I guess I'll be boxing up these POS cameras and sending them back to Amazon.
Thanks for nothing Amcrest!

Re: IP2M-841B Settings keep getting lost
I have the IP3M and have the same problem. I want to run the camera at the max resolution (at least for local SD recording) and the max Amcrest Cloud setting is 1080p. That means my camera settings keep getting reset to 1080p after a few days (usually) of setting it to 3M. Note: I wouldn't mind if only the lower-quality sub stream got sent to the cloud. I want to use the full resolution of the camera for local recording, though!
Also, my text overlay (date stamp) keeps getting lost - I assume for the same reason.
Amcrest: Can you give us an update on this bug?

Re: IP2M-841B Settings keep getting lost
This is an issue that will never be fixed. On March 6, 2017, at 5:01PM EST, I spoke to CSR Alfred Bates, who informed me that Amcrest Cloud overrides all settings, and there is no way to change these overrides. This adversely affects any Amcrest IP cameras that use Amcrest Cloud, as the settings set are:
What does this mean for the consumer? It means that if you want to use the "free" Amcrest Cloud, even if you bought a 960p or 1080p HD camera, you are effectively getting the equivalent quality of a 480p, low-quality, 10fps, SD camera, scaled up to 960p/1080p size (not resolution).
- Resolution: 720p
- Frame Rate (FPS): 10FPS
- Quality: 3 (Bad)
- Bit Rate: 512
- Frame Internal: 20
