Get back to Menu from camera wall view

Post by R0CC0922 »

So it seems I changed a setting on my AMR10808 (1080P- 8 Channel), and now when looking at the screen, all I see are my cameras live feeds. The mouse doesn't work. The remote doesn't work. I have no way of getting back to the configuration menus for the system.

Tried looking up how to do a Factory reset, but seems there is no way to do it via a button on the motherboard, for my NVR (apparently the 960 has this button, according to google).

So, I've done the power button 3 times for 3 seconds (while unplugged?? really?), tried looking up how to reset it from my PC software for Amcrest, but am having ZERO luck.
If anyone can tell me where a button is, or how to reset the software, I'd be very appreciative.

Thanks all!

I ended up having to go through the PC software to reset my NVR, which wasnt previously configured. Accessed through web browser and all was perfect. Instructions to do that are in the back of the guide.
If you follow step by step, it works. If youre on DHCP, make sure you change the webpage accordingly, as your system will assign a different value to the NVR each time it boots up.

Well that all sounds well and good... except I am unable to get the PC software to work. It tells me that I have an invalid S/N and to be sure that I have P2P enabled. I am positive that I have the right S/N but of course can not get into the DVR to be sure P2P is enabled (but I am sure that it is as it is a default and I did not change the default.

I guess my only solution at this point is to contact Amcrest (which does not open for business until 9:30 AM CST

Arghhhh

Just to close this all out, I spent about 4 hours !! on the phone today with Amcrest 2nd level support... and at the end of the day, they are issuing me a RMA and having me send the DVR back. After lots and lots of attempts, they were unable to figure out what was wrong.. and get it running.

I give them an A for effort... but it's surely not a good way to start out. This was essentially day 1 with Amcrest.. the unit had only arrived here on Saturday morning!

We'll see how the replacement unit works!

I have the exact same problem. My mouse isn't working or responding. Can't get to my menu configuration at all. Basically, it showing all my videos/cameras/screens, scrolling one screen to another but cannot stop it nor cannot get to my menu configuration. No control whatsoever!!!! I powered off, disconnected the power for a day and still doing the same thing on next day..... Mouse isn't responding. I just got it yesterday.... Connected keyboard and still not responding it. Today is Friday night and have to wait until Monday to call technical support. Three days lost..... DANG... What a bummer !!!

I ran into this same issue 2 weeks ago. I think I was changing the resolution in the system settings trying to match my monitor. There was a toggle for matrix, or video matrix that I clicked on (im not sure if that caused the system to fail) and when I accepted the changes my DVR no longer functions other than showing the video feed on the monitor. The DVR is unresponsive, the mouse no longer works, the remote no longer works. All I can do is turn the DVR on and off. It appears that the UI has completely stopped working and there is no way to interact with the DVR. I can't find any information on the web that directly deals with this issue or how to alleviate it.
I contacted support, they gave me an email address for me to send in my information, 4 days later I got a response saying they got my email. 4 days later I got another email saying my issue was being forwarded to RMA and I haven't heard anything back as of yet. Two weeks so far since my initial contact with support.

Anyone figure out how to resolve this yet?

Hello fbrinson,

If you have the system connected to router, you can login to the web interface from a PC and then try a factory restore under settings > System > Restore factory settings.
