ftp files incomplete
ftp files incomplete
My camera is creating jpegs just fine and saving them to the ftp server i have setup. My problems is that 95% of the videos are truncated .dav_ files. the others are very small .dav files that done really play. they are only a few hundred kb in size. Anyone know how i can fix this?

Hello Sublevel4 ,
If the camera is connected wirelessly and is not receiving adequate wifi signals, it can result in the camera not being able to upload to FTP. Also if the FTP server is in a remote location, the upload speed of your network should be really good otherwise the video upload might fail.

Re: ftp files incomplete
I can test the signal strength but i haven't had any issues viewing the video(full resolution 1080p) even viewing from two locations at once. FTP server is on the local network so i don't know that would be any issue. I was able to ftp a 50mb file from my laptop to the local ftp in 5 seconds. I took my laptop and stood 4ft farther away from the access point and was still able to ftp the file in 5 seconds. Any steps to trouble shoot this issue?

Re: ftp files incomplete
I have same issue with FTP. In my case about half the files are broken! FTP server is on my local network.
It's unacceptable! What is the point of having camera if it fails to record alert events? I tried @cloud@ thing - it's a joke and screwed my camera settings! Please fix FTP recording!!
Use some sort of redundancy, repeat record attempt, use SD card as a buffer etc. Just make sure the file get uploaded correctly! It's major functionality which must work.

Does anyone have an update on this? I've got my FTP server working and the brand new IP3M-943 camera is a few feet away on very strong wifi sending very small clips to the FTP server every time motion is detected. See photo below for a list of clips recorded in the last 20 minutes. Most of these MP4 files are less than 1 second in duration, but some are longer. Typically they're only 17-30KB. The server has over 100GB of available storage currently.

Re: ftp files incomplete
I have found the FTP service to be entirely useless. My network is structured cat 5e....gigabit...switched...with the cameras attached via Ethernet. All motion detected video recordings saved to an FTP server on the same local network consistently miss the first 10 seconds. In other words, the event that triggers the video recording is missed. This does not happen with SDCards or Amcrest Cloud...just FTP.
This has been an issue for years and nothing seems to be happening to correct this problem.

Re: ftp files incomplete
Thank you so much for your quick reply @celindberg. Your message got me to stop this route immediately and start with a different type of setup. Shame on Amcrest for not fixing this issue yet continuing to promote it as a feature.
Re: ftp files incomplete
is this fixed? I am facing the same issue using FTP or NAS. This is so annoying. I have latest firmware on 2 cameras, both doing the same thing. One is wired, and the other one is on wifi (full signal), I have a ASUS RT-AC87U router, it's not a network issue.
Please Amcrest fix this issue ASAP!

Just another data point: (S)FTP is still effectively broken for me, too. I just got a IP5M-T1179EB-AI-V3, with latest firmware, and the SFTP upload produces garbage/broken files. These are .mp4 files, not .dav (though they are placed in a .../dav/ folder on the server).
Most of the videos are completely unplayable because they're missing the "moov atom" — generally an indication that the file was truncated before it completed.
Some of them are playable, but you just get a tiny fragment of the video, so not really useful.
Using the official "Amcrest Smart Play" application does not help; the data is simply not there.
I tried reducing the recording size/resolution, and that helped a little, but it was still effectively useless for me.
This is on a fast, stable network. It's not like the connection was flaking out. It seems that FTP upload, even if it technically is supported, is just not in a usable state, even today.
Now I'm looking at writing a script that will download the .mp4 files from the SD card, via the web interface, so I don't have to do it myself all the time ... what a pain.
