Filezilla FTP Issues?: Folders created but files missing? Permission error when testing.

Post by Beemster »

Hi there. I have an Amcrest IP2M-841B camera that I want to upload captured pics & video to a networked laptop through FTP.

I have older Foscam IP cameras which are set up the same way and work great: I'm using a windows 7 laptop with Filezilla FTP software.
They have a Filezilla username, a password, and a folder that they routinely upload security camera images to.

But when I try to set up this Amcrest camera in Filezilla using the same way, it seems like the camera can only log in to Filezilla and create folders. It can't seem to place any photos or video into the created folders through filezilla.

When I hit test in the Amcrest FTP setup screen, it gives me an error that the camera does not have write privileges at the FTP location given, but this isn't true: That camera and its associated login has full write abilities in Filezilla in the set up virtual/local location, similar to the other cameras.
I can see in the FTP console that the camera connects and logs in without issue, creates a folder, but there appear to be a few errors when attempting to create a file. 550 Unknown Error.

I assume this has something to do with ports or active vs. passive ftp setup. Is anyone experienced with this error or able to walk me through the solution to it?

Thank you!
