Doorbell recording?

Post by Revo2Maxx »

Ok so I am lost now lol... I have read where others were saying they could only record for 20 seconds. When I started my Doorbell up for the first time I took all the Motion issues as I didn't want mine to give bunch of alerts and so I turned off Motion... However after some time I thought ok lets turn them back on. I turned on the Motion, Sadly the zones are still 3 areas that if you click off all of them you can't click them back on so I left them all on... Had 4 motion alerts when I woke today so I thought OK better check what I missed and all 4 have no recorded footage? Only says Live View? I am so lost before I had footage that was recorded to the Memory card...

So then I thought Ok doubt it but maybe I need to update the FW because I have been using the one it was released with again because of the issues I heard others had with the new FW.. So I installed that... Rebooted and Changed IP in NVR because router seen new FW device as different then the one I had already installed so gave out different IP wish I had the ability to have StatiC IP don't know why that isn't an option... Motion alerts and still no recorded footage?

So then I turn to my NVR that I have the Doorbell on... Tread carefully here... However I bring up the camera view 6 and go to playback. Goto area of motion that the alert was left in the app for the doorbell and there is nothing. Then I thought lets check the search feature that lets you set a grid for Motion and it will fast skip to each motion in the full time video and well can't have motion active in the NVR so that don't work...

Looking at other cameras that I have in the same View as my Doorbell camera most of the motion was nothing other then Dark to light when all the Light Flares left the screen of the doorbell camera. The camera did run in Color all night that is with the Thing in auto because to what I know there is no way to change past auto.. I can get B/W to come on if I turn off my Porch light however it will turn on and off and IR you can see in picture of live view goes up and down as well. SO I will get a Timer switch for my Porch light so I don't forget to turn it on...

Funny thing is I have 3 Cameras well more really but on my Amcrest NVR I have 3 cameras that have been recording my Front road. So when they come up street I get car on left camera it then leaves that cameras shows up in next one in Center camera then right or Ch1, Ch2 and Ch3 Respectfully gets the last part of the view.. The doorbell camera gets all that View as well it is a Very wide View Camera for sure... I wish they had FOV options for these... Some people are going to have a Narrow FOV in the entry ways... I can even see the Highway with the camera. While I can't make out anything but at night you can see the lights of the cars that are going down the Highway and that is 5 miles away lol

Ok well I got that sorted out. I am not sure what the problem was it started working the way it should or humm is it? Anyway I was able to see some footage that was caused when someone came up to the camera however at about 12sec they pressed the doorbell and the recording ended? That don't see like how everyone has been saying it works... I maybe could understand if I had answered it. However to be fair I wish it would record until the interaction is done.

So motion if it don't see anything after the first 20 seconds then fine false alert however if there is still motion keep recording, Once button is pressed keep recording, Once answered or denied keep recording until the motion zone is cleared... However to be fair I have it Recording full time on my NVR. Also I can see the porch with other cameras as well so no issue really...

So snap shots don't work over the nvr. I thought I would take some of motion. I have slots where there would be snapshots however the screen is black so I guess that means it don't send JPG and the NVR don't make them either.. So turned that off don't need it taking up space for nothing...

For me the good news is I don't have any useless events. Well one that happens when the neighbor leaves or comes home at night and his lights shine down my driveway. Other then that nothing false with all the traffic going by the house. I am going to look for a Siding back box. Maybe I will have to make a Mold and Cast one for myself. Need to angle the camera down a little I get loads of Lens flares at night but good news the camera has enough light it stays color.
