I have 4 cameras that I updated and all of them are doing this after the recent update.
I have 2 cameras that I haven't updated and they are working fine on android app pro. I'm not going to update them. I've noticed when using pan and tilt you can actually here normal for a few seconds. As soon as you stop using pan and tilt the audio goes weird again. What to do? Will there be a fix? Please help!
don't upgrade firmware : IP2M-841 cams
Re: don't upgrade firmware : IP2M-841 cams
Hello bigtree,
Please explain if the issue is with audio only or are the cameras not working at all?

Similar happened on my brand-new IPM-721 720p cam. 9/8/16 firmware blocked ability to save Recording Schedule changes.amcresthell wrote:Glad to see it wasn't just me. I also found this gem, can others please confirm if they've encountered it:
All adjustments to the main record schedule page under Storage -> Schedule fail to save. Even clicking Reset Defaults, and then saving results in "Save failed". The only configuration that will successfully save is if General and Motion are enabled 24/7. Anything else will to save.
This basically requires you to be continuously recording, rendering motion detection pointless/useless.
Support suggested a hard reset (10-15sec press on power button), that erased all my config settings,
but it DID work. I can now save recording schedule changes properly.
The reset did NOT erase existing recorded video on my sd card.
I suppose you could Export all existing settings, do hard reset, then re-import back again, to save time re-doing all the config setup,
but I didn't want to do that in case there was some bad config data somewhere contributing to the bug (and I hadn't done that much setup yet, being new cam.)
Re: don't upgrade firmware : IP2M-841 cams
Hey Melvin,
The problem is with the audio only. The cameras seem to be working fine. I used to be able to here my wife talk to me pretty clear. Now I can barley hear her and it sounds really strange. This is with the four cameras I updated. Two cameras I didn't update are still working just fine and you can hear really well. Any tips to fix I would appreciate and if there is a way to go back to the old firmware please let me know.
thanks

Re: don't upgrade firmware : IP2M-841 cams
After upgrading firmware to 5 each of my IP2M-841B cameras. They have removed DAV download
option. The only format that includes audio. MP4 format does not include audio before or
after upgrade. I've been in email contact with Amcrest a number of times. They deny there is
a problem. I tried going to the last firmware before the new. The new has done something to
my cameras. Old firmware will no longer record to my SD card. SD card set up and new format.
I had to go back to the new firmware for my cameras to record to SD card. Amcrest says no problem with new firmware. They need tech people that know what they are doing. Yes there is
audio in playback. I can't get them to understand no audio in MP4 downloaded format. The DAV they took out in the new firmware had audio in it's downloaded file.

Hello skittels2020 ,
There is audio in the MP4 files. Please make sure that under setup > camera > Video > Audio the encode mode is set to AAC.

I was updating my firmware on my second 841 b when I got a message from the cloud that its test failed and my screen immediately asked for my user ID and password. It was working fine till I upgraded the firmware and crashed during an automatic cloud test. This system caused my camera to become a brick. It is a terrible system. Not ready for Prime time.

The bad programming is back again. I'm unable to update my 841's firmware because of the corrupt file from the web.
Re: don't upgrade firmware : IP2M-841 cams
Hello [email protected] ,
Please perform a hard rest on the camera and try again. The file is good as we have tested and other users have updated as well.

Re; Firmware 2.420.AC00.17.R, Build Date: 2017-04-07
I believe this is supposed to be a patch to the latest firmware update supplied to me by tech support. However, in my case, I found that the prior update with a March 22, 2017 build date caused my Gogogate2 garage door device to lose connection with my 841B camera (snapshot). None of the subsequent versions have improved the situation. Prior to this update, all was fine for many months. Gogogate Support, to their credit, has tried to resolve this issue with Amcrest with negative results.
Also, Amcrest View is not compatible with the latest Firefox version and requires version 49.0.2 but that causes conflicts with other programs.
I have tried to get Amcrest support to supply an earlier firmware version so I can take a few steps backward so things will work again but that seems to be an area they do not care to address. I am becoming very disenchanted with Amcrest Tech Support and may just need to shop for another camera brand.
In any event, they need to get up to speed with their firmware. The loss of compatibility with my Gogogate2 garage door opener presents a security and safety issue that did not exist before. Loss of Firefox compatibility is frustrating but can be circumvented by using Safari, in my case as I use a Mac.
Anyone else experiencing issues with Gogogate2 devices? Ideas?
Thanks
