We have to understand what causes this error "DHNETSDK returns error" and then troubleshoot.
There is not much on the net about DHNETSDK other than the usual nonsense like restarting the PC, installing the drivers etc. Most people do such basic troubleshooting like restarting the PC, checking the
drivers etc.

Forum is Trying to help with a Issue. That might be Trouble shooting that is why people are there to try and help. Can't find the help you need or want then best to call Amcrest Tech Support Hot line or maybe Email them might find you better results.
About what I posted. I guess I didn't understand or you didn't understand me....
So what my second post was. What I did to access a camera that I have not had on my NETWORK or my Computer or my phone. I didn't even use my phone to access it
I did as you were saying or I thought you were trying to say..... How to access over Internet.
I asked my Son to Set up his camera so i could test out the issue you were having. As all my Cameras are on Network Switches over there and here and have my Router set to give out IP address even when I do a factory Reset the camera is setup after by my Router....
So I thought I have not used his Camera I will try that way... I had him port Forward the camera to the router. Had him DMZ it and nothing worked over that type of connection. SO when I setup his Camera for him some time ago. I set it to have P2P off. SO I had him turn it back on.
After he turned it back on. I used ASP *Amcrest Surveillance Pro* on my Windows 10 Pro Computer, Devices, added a new device, Rather then Picking his IP address to setup this time I setup with click drop down box, P2P. It prompted me for a SN. With him on the Phone he gave me his SN I added it. I got his Password for the Camera I input that. I then CLICKED ADD and it took me back to Devices showing the Camera was offline..... After about 20 to 30 seconds it came online and I clicked it and was able to get Live view... Sadly I can't Playback because he don't have a MSD card in it but doing as I just said I was able to access his camera....
By the way P2P is a Steam from your computer to a Server this server then serves the users that have the info I just stated. It is a faster then all other PORT forwarding and SCUH....
Good luck I have nothing more to offer on this. Sorry your having some issues I just told you that Mine is working with my Sons camera in his house over a Network I have no access too...

Re: Cant use Amcrest Surveillance PRO from an outside network
Could anyone please explain how ASP or any other application running on a PC or Mac can identify where a camera is located and access the camera using just the serial number?
If the camera is in the same network as the PC on which ASP is installed, I can understand how the camera can be identified. But if the camera is in a different outside network, how can any app on a PC identify the camera using just the serial number.
How does connecting a camera to a local network using P2P from a cell phone make it available to an outside network using ASP on a PC. Please note that I am not trying to access the camera from outside the network using the cell phone. I am trying to access it using ASP on a PC

BTW it is not like I dont believe Revo2Maxx.
Just trying to understand the concept.

Re: Cant use Amcrest Surveillance PRO from an outside network
To try and make it little easier to understand... .
You have a Camera with a Unique SN, When you or anyone sets up a P2P they are giving that SN to a Server that is just there to stand by and listen for another person aka Computer, Phone or camera system to Ping that SN. Once that is done the sever then answers to the system computer or phone and then it can make a PEER to PEER connection. More below...
P2P networks are highly stable. I.E. Torrent sites have billions worldwide users some may not even know.
As P2P is de-centralised, i.e. Systems are all over various peers, it makes the system quite reliable, cheap and affordable.
*Important* (Not limited or blocked by closed ports, no DDNS setup, firewalls, etc.)
P2P UUID Or the SN is installed into the camera before shipment, no further settings are required.
P2P streams can be used to connect with (multiple devices simultaneously)
P2P stream can be used to backup data to a cloud
P2P allow secure connections between the camera and viewing client with encrypted streams
Linking to the camera can be done in a couple of minutes.
QR code scanning for convenience in linking Or Manually input of the SN.
Complete protections and privacy with encrypted video streaming
As server pings the camera, its easy to know when the camera is online or unreachable.
P2P isn't something NEW it has been in Networking even back with BNC networking AKA 10Base2.. Funny thing is with all the T's that were in the network you would think the later 10base T would have been already used by it oh well it was what it was. Networking today is much easier and less limits as there was from the older... I don't miss it lol...
While most of that is right on I might have some terms wrong... UUID or UDID as the last is Mostly in part Apple but one may change other don't I can't remember what is what lol....

Re: Cant use Amcrest Surveillance PRO from an outside network
So if I set up P2P in a local network using a cell phone, that SN is available for outside networks also for any app running on a PC like ASP?
I guess in my case I have established connection to the camera using IP/port forwarding.
It is only when trying to view live or play back videos it is not working.
So I would presume that even if I use SN way to connect to the camera using ASP, I will have the same problem. For some reason using the SN is not even getting connected though it has been set up in my LAN.

Re: Cant use Amcrest Surveillance PRO from an outside network
Already seen that video. Like many have commented on that video, it does not cover remote set up at all.
I am asking again. Just Yes or No answer is fine.
1) Does setting up P2P on a LAN using a cell phone with the SN of the camera, make that camera accessible by an app like ASP from a PC on an external network, if I add the camera to ASP on that PC using the SN instead of IP/port?
2) Does adding a camera in a LAN using ASP from a PC using the SN of the camera make the camera accessible by ASP from a PC on an external network, if I add the camera to ASP on that PC using the SN instead of IP/port?

Re: Cant use Amcrest Surveillance PRO from an outside network
I am sorry... I am out of gas... Good Luck...
By the way the Video is if people not only watched but Listen to the video. Is a Remote Connection....
She Says at I think around 55 seconds in Ok make sure you are logged into your Remote network....
Please note.... The start of the Video STATES we have set up on a Local network a IP2M-841E for the demo... With even showing a animation of the local setup and that this is for a Remote Setup....
YES YES YES YES and I will say it again YES. Last time....
However I am done... I will not revisit this and all offers are off the table. I am done. AKA out of Gas. GL

Re: Cant use Amcrest Surveillance PRO from an outside network
It is not important that I make the connection using P2P. Like I said many times already, I have established the connection using IP/port forwarding. Moreover I am not going to give the SN and password of my camera to anyone nor will I allow tech support to remote login to my work PC.
Regardless of whether I connect the camera using SN (P2P) or IP/port forwarding, the problem that has not been solved is the following error.
"Failed to start playback. DHNETSDK returns error"
Like I have also already said, unless the cause of this error is determined, I guess this problem cannot be solved.
Like I also said before, I can remote view my camera uisng IE. Just that it will mess up the time. All I have to do is change the recording schedule as per the new time zone for a a few days. That is a better solution, than giving the SN and password of my camera to someone or compromising my work PC.
Neither of them is worth taking the risk, when there is no guarantee that the DHNETSDK error will be fixed. If someone knows what DHNETSDK error is, they dont need to access either my camera or my PC. They can suggest ways to troubleshoot/fix the error if they know what causes this error.
It is like a doctor can do the diagnosis of the patient's sickness without having to cut open the patient, if the doctor has the experience treating similar such sickness.
