Can't Connect - Tried ALL Connect Options

Post by brewpat »

New Camera. IPM-721W. Trying to install/connect. Followed directions exactly for wifi setup, ethernet setup, and local desktop setup. ALL options fail. Extremely frustrated.

With wifi setup I run through the process just fine and when it get to the part where it tries to communicate with the camera it fails (nothing happens and message about issue connecting to Wifi appears).

With ethernet setup, I run through the process just fine but when it gets to the part where it's supposed to show my network, it fails (nothing shows). My SSID is NOT hidden. My router DOES show the camera as being connected to the network.

With desktop setup when I hit the refresh button as instructed, no camera shows up on the screen.

Seriously?!? WTH. Any help much appreciated before I take a hammer to this piece of crap.

I'm on Android 8.1 and I'm on Windows 10. Thanks for the input!

Hi,
I also had some trouble setting ut a camera using the Amcrest guide, so i did it manually and it worked fine.

Connect your camera to your router with ethernet cable, open your routers UI and locate where you can see the IP of the connected units (Pc, laptop, camera etc), find your camera's IP adress (you can verify by checking the MAC adress).

Now enter the adress for the camera in your browser, and you should get to the Amcrest camera log in screen.
From here you enter the standard log in info, go to Connection settings, and set the parameters how you want (if you need to change any), then go to wifi and you can connect to your network from there. After you have done that, disconnet the ethernet cable and restart your camera. Wait until it litghts up green ( i assume all cameras does that) then try the ip adress again to see if it has succesfully connected to your wifi network. :-)
