Hello, I have two IPM-722S. One camera is in the front yard and one is in the back. Both cameras experience a random flickering or fluctuation in the image. Basically, the image will turn slightly lighter or darker and then return to normal. It happens several times a minute during random times throughout the day. It will flicker for 30 to 40 minutes at a time and then stop on its own. I figured it was one of the auto settings causing it so I have everything set to manual and setup different profiles for day and night.
This happens on both cameras. Usually not at the same time but currently they are both fluctuating right now and causing me to get hundreds of motion alerts.
What are some settings I can try to get this to stop? I searched the forum but can’t find anybody else having this problem.
Camera image flicker or fluctuation
Re: Camera image flicker or fluctuation
Hello je93009 ,
Under camera set up > Configuration Try changing the Anti Flicker value to 'Outdoor'
Also you could try changing the Exposure to Low Noise.

Re: Camera image flicker or fluctuation
I have this same issue and have tried adjusting every setting the 722S has to no avail.
My camera has been going light/dark for almost an hour now and it's only 3 days old.
Here's a screen capture showing this problem.

On a side note I have to force my camera into h264 mode or the video is totally pixelated in mjpeg mode. This even when the flickering problem doesn't exist. As shown here:

Re: Camera image flicker or fluctuation
I am actually glad somebody else is having this problem! The good news is, I found a work around.
1. Change Exposure to Manual
2. Change Shutter to 1/10000 or another value
This will stop it right away. It appears the camera just can't figure out what exposure value to set itself so it will bounce around for awhile until the light is just right. You will be good for most of the day with a fixed value, but at the sun goes down it can't adjust itself. So I have my Night profile set to come on at 4:30PM, black & white, with a fixed value as well.
Hopefully a firmware update can fix this problem.

This worked perfect! I thought I had tried every setting but evidently this is one I did not toy with.je93009 wrote:I am actually glad somebody else is having this problem! The good news is, I found a work around.

Thanks for discovering this!
Now if I can fix the mjpeg pixelation issue I'll be all set.
Re: Camera image flicker or fluctuation
Awesome!
Melvin, does this happen in any other camera model that you know of? Like I said initially, I couldn't find anybody else having this problem. Can you request the engineering team to look at this? I would like to see the fix come out in the first firmware update.

Re: Camera image flicker or fluctuation
Yes this issue is also happening to our brand new ProHD IP2M-841E cameras. Both are located indoors, and used as out network baby monitors. Everything works fine during the day, but at night/low light they both begin to switch back and forth between day and night mode constantly (with night mode in auto). This should be addressed in a new firmware update.
***The suggested fix above appears to be working right now. I switched the exposure setting to MANUAL and the value to 1/30 (1/10000 made both our kid's rooms pitch black lol). This setting looks great in day and night modes, and I am not getting any more switching between modes.

Re: Camera image flicker or fluctuation
This flicker problem has been going on for about 8 months or so. I reported it to Melvin long ago. was told they know about it and a fix was coming out with new firmware. Well the new firmware came out in March and its still a problem to this day with NO Fix from Amcrest. Come on Amcrest fix the problem or stop sell the camera with a known problem.
The problem with the work around above is you will need to setup a day night profile and as we all know sun rise and sun set changes and you will have to change your profile.
