AmcrestView Pro iPhone app doesn't rotate into landscape anymore??

Post by Safiaf220 »

Before the ios10 and Amcrest updates, I was able use the AmcrestView Pro app on my phone and just turn the phone and the live view of the camera would rotate automatically into full screen mode but since the updates, it won't rotate anymore when I turn the phone. Now I can only see the live view in the small square and everything is distorted using this view. How can Make it rotate into landscape/full screen mode again?? Thank you

I posted this same reply to the other thread that asked the same question, so please bare with me:

I am having the same issue with my iPhone 6s not rotating into landscape mode as the OP. I went to the app store and downloaded the latest version of the Amcrest View Pro app, but still no luck. I even loaded the app onto my wife's iPhone 6, and the app will not rotate into landscape either. Both my iPhone 6s and my wife's iPhone 6 are running IOS 9.3.5 (or whatever the last update to IOS was before it went to 10).

We have not updated our phones to IOS 10 yet because other people we know who have done that are having even more troubles with the Amcrest View Pro app, and they can't even get their camera's to work. At least my wife and I can still use the app, but both of our phones will only show the camera's in portrait mode.

My friend who has an iPhone 5s also has the app on his phone and it functions properly, and can rotate into landscape mode. He has not updated his phone IOS10 yet, and he is still running an older version of the app.

I contacted Amcrest support and received an email with a phone number on it to call tech support about this problem. I called, and the person on the phone tried to help, but nothing he said to do worked. We tried deleting the app and reloading it. We tried rebooting our phones. But we have had no luck.

I know that myself and the OP of this thread are not the only ones with this issue. Is there anyone on this forum who has an iPhone 6 or 6s, with the Amcrest View Pro app on their phone, and can still rotate their phone and get it to go into landscape? If you can, please tell us what version of the app you are running, and if you feel brave, update that to the latest version, and let us know if rotating your phone into landscape view goes away?

Thanks!

Add me to the list of users discovering that the app doesn't rotate into landscape mode while in main Live View mode--my phone is a 6 Plus running iOS 9.0.2, Amcrest app version 3.40.0052 (released Nov 12); I even uninstalled and reinstalled the app--no luck. Here is what I am (currently) seeing--if I install the app but not yet add any cameras, the app will rotate when in Live View mode...but as soon as I add even a single camera the app no longer rotates when I tap on Live View from the app menu. The app will rotate into landscape if you tap on the Live View camera icon when viewing saved event videos in Push Notifications -> Event List...but it won't rotate into landscape if you tap on Live View from the app menu.

Please don't tell me that the solution is to upgrade to iOS 10--that it used to work on my phone on iOS 9 is evidence enough that I don't think it's an iOS issue, plus as described above I can get it to rotate by going through Event List, thus showing that the app knows how to go into landscape regardless of what iOS version; also FWIW landscape mode was working when I was on app version 3.40.0048--unfortunately reverting back to .0048 is not a viable solution since it has been discovered that push notifications no longer function correctly on app versions older than .0052.

This problem does seem to be app version related.

My friends iPhone 5s that I mentioned in my other post is running an older version of the app. I think he said it was the version that ended in 0048 as tonester said. My friend said his iPhone shows that there is an update for the app, but because of the issues other people are having with the latest version of the app not allowing the view to go into landscape (or full view as the app calls it) he is keeping his app at the older version until this problem gets fixed.

I have tried multiple times deleting and re-installing the app, but nothing has worked for my iPhone 6s or my wife's iPhone 6.

I have also read the reviews in the app store for this, and there are more and more people stating their iPhones will no longer rotate into landscape view anymore.

So Amcrest must be aware of this issue. Does anyone here know if they are trying to fix it?

Thanks.

I was unable to get into landscape mode as well, and uninstalled the app on my iPhone 6s and reinstalled it and it worked after that.

I just deleted the AmcrestView Pro app from my iPhone 6s, and then installed the latest version of the app, which is 0052, according to the app store, and I still can NOT get it rotate into Landscape mode.

I did the same thing to my wife's iPhone 6, and the same result. No landscape mode.

Is there anyone out there that is in contact with the people who made the app that can let them know it's not working properly?

Thanks.

CJ7VFR--yup, on my wife's iPhone 5 running app version 0048 Live View display rotates just fine even from the main Live View screen...alas, as I noted though this doesn't do me much good since of course push notifications no longer work on any older versions.

Since most people can successfully have their images rotated into landscape mode, perhaps there is an issue with the smartphone. The app is not at fault. If no one was able to rotate into landscape mode, then I would agree the app is broken. Pull up a photo on your phone and see if it will view in landscape mode. If it does, then demons have entered your phone. If it does not, then something needs to be changed with the phone.

It doesn't appear to be a phone issue. If you look at the reviews for the app in the App Store, there are a growing number of people who have posted that they can no longer get the full view by rotating their phones into landscape after the launch of version 0051 of the app. They even state that their phones worked fine up until the release of that version of the app.

As a matter of fact, I could get my phone to rotate into landscape prior to Amcrest putting out version 0051 of the App on my iPhone 6S. My wife could also rotate her iPhone 6 into landscape prior to version 0051.

My friends iPhone 5s can still rotate into full view via landscape even after he updated the app to version 0051, so this leads me to believe there is problem with the app for the iPhone 6 and 6s.

Also, just to answer your question, I can pull up any photo or other app on my iPhone 6s, rotate the phone, and the view will go into landscape. Just now I rotated my phone with the calculator app open and it went right into the scientific calculator with no problems.

This is an app issue because prior to version 0051 of the app, everything worked fine. Also please note that there are several others on this forum who have posted having issues with the latest version of the app not letting them rotate their views into full view via landscape, while they could do it when they had an older version of the app.

Did you do something to your iPhone 6s other than just deleting the app and reinstalling the latest version to get it to work in landscape?
