Re: AI camera hook up
Hello and Welcome to the forum
Sadly that NVR isn't a AI NVR. Even though there are reports of others in the 5xxxE series that has had the AI unlocked when they connected AI cameras I personally think that was a fluke. I know there have been others that have reported they don't get any AI controls. Sure like my 41xx series it would show the rules if you setup a AI camera on the live feed pages but there is no AI Controls and no ability to setup record features of the AI..
So if you were looking for a AI NVR and need the new TOP of the line then I would look at the 44xx series AI NVR's I don't own one my self. I have the what was the top of the line at the time 4216E-AI NVR that is really more of an NVR then most people would ever really want or need. Plus it also offers the ability to add 4 extra AI channels on the NVR of NON-AI cameras. So for me having 12 AI Cameras I have all channels on the 16ch NVR with AI rules and work to record only when the rules set are broken.
Then the new line of the 41xx series. the A2 is also out now and has replaced the HS. That NVR the A2 will work as a normal NVR until an AI camera is connected and at that time it will open the AI features and record for that AI camera only the Events setup for that channel. The A2 don't offer any extra AI channels it only works with AI enabled Cameras. I mean it will work with Normal cameras just won't have the ability to use a 841 as an AI channel like I can my 4216E-AI.
One last thing, I don't know what Firmware you are using on your 52xx NVR it might be there was one FW that has that working as AI. The main issue with that NVR over a normal AI NVR like the 42xx is CPU and Rom/Ram of the NVR. I know when someone that had the features was asking Support about why it had the AI but it wasn't working as they wanted it to, They were told the system didn't have the speed it needed to work with the AI and offer the High Camera input of 320. I think my 4216E-AI is only 220 without AI enabled and once I enable the AI it drops to 80Mbps..
So in the End, As I said to the person that was lucky enough to have a 5216E-8P with AI support that it might have been when the NVR was built for Amcrest the normal SOIC was out of stock and the one used for an AI NVR was used and that is why it was able to be unlocked.
Outside of that. I know if I Enable some things in my AI NVR it will tell me that doing so will disable AI ability of the NVR. While I just looked for what that was. I can't find it right now. It might have been something that I was going to Enable while connected WebUI. I just remember when I was going to enable something that was like Enhanced Display or something like that it said it would turn off AI and Reboot the Machine. SO I didn't enable it and I don't remember where it was but that might be something you have enabled on yours if it does have the AI ability hidden. Again the Feature was something Enhanced.
